When Gingerbread gets released for the LG G2X, will it make it faster? Or just changed the keyboard and colors to black, etc. Any performance differences, like using the dual core better than Froyo? Let me know what you guys think thanks.

Yes. I had a Droid X, and the experience with the leaked Gingerbread was totally different. Quadrant scores went from 1300ish with 2.2 to 1900 with 2.3. It might not be that drastic with the G2X, but it should still be substantial.

Ok

Cuz i was checking out the galaxy s 2 and its quadrant was around 3500 , it has gingerbread, and double the ram (512mb compared to 1gb) The 4g is also 21mbps and the g2x is 14mbs. The super amoled plus screen (damn my g2x screen for bleeding) and its thinner, bigger screen , yeah

I doubt t-mobile will get a GS2 anytime soon. I actually sort of doubt they'll get it at all. They seem to be getting hot and heavy with HTC lately.

well i'm sticking with my g2x, got cm7 nightly tonight and love it, obviously there are bugs but that is expected, before that i had eaglesblood that was cool

They havent had the greatest results with Sammysung hardware either.
The Vibrant was a GPS nightmare for them and the latest 4G one coming with 200mb
internal memory......?
I had a Nexus S while still keeping the N1 as a backup.
I returned the NS after a week, I couldnt see where it was much
of an improvement over the N1, at least not worth a 2yr contract.

I don't care if it is faster. I just want the bugs fixed! It is getting very discouraging seeing all these android devices that have come out after the G2x getting GB first. What is even worse is seeing these new low and mid range devices coming straight from the box with GB. LOW MID range android devices coming with it preloaded yet a flagship high end G2x is still waiting in the dark for it. Starting to look pathetic LG and TMO! Pathetic.

I stopped in to my local T-Mobile company store the other day to take advantage of the 50% accessory email I received. I picked up a new case and screen savers for my G2x.

I noticed a G2x on display in the store... supposedly all of those had been pulled. I asked the sales guy if they were selling them... to my surprise he said, "yes, we have stock and are selling them". I also asked him if he knew when GB was coming out for the G2x and he told me he wasn't allowed to disclose any release dates for any updates. No big surprise there. But what he did tell me was "not to worry, it is being worked on and will come out as advertised".

Something else he told me was to get a App Killer for my G2x. What they found is that the device is running too many Apps in the background which is what is causing the shut downs and re-boots. I never thought of that. He is running an App Killer on his and never has any re-boots. He also hinted that when GB does come out for the G2x it will be running fewer Apps in the background and will also speed up the phone.

I have been working with the guys in this store for years and honestly trust the information they pass along to me... as much or little as they can. Personally, I viewed what he told me as pretty positive.

App Killers are not good to use on Android 2.2 and higher. The OS does a good job at memory management by itself. I have never used a task killer (or app killer) at all and I've had zero issues with my G2X.

Agreed. I believe the task killer is the reason I had my one and only issue with my phone. it is running just fine w/o it now.

I would agree... but thought I would give it a try on my G2x. It really makes a difference... at least on my device. It is running faster and no glitches. And, it is freeing up a lot of internal memory. So I suspect the T-Mobile guy might in fact be right. LG and T-Mobile may have found that a lot of the re-boot problems may be set off by the memory getting taxed out with too many Apps running in the background. I am not a tech guy, so don't understand all the in's and out's of this stuff, but it seem to make sense.

I'll use the App Killer and see what happens over a week or so. If the phone seems to run better and the issues I am having go away or at least minimize, then I will keep using it. If the Task Killer is having little to no real result... then out it goes. No real harm in trying it. Who really knows if GB and the supposed bug fixes will make a real difference. Guess we will all have to wait and see. One thing I will not do is root the phone.. that is way to risky for my blood and not something I am willing to do.

My G2X over heats I installed an apps killer to try to gain more battery life, memory, and to keep it from overheating. The apparently killer does help some but no matter what my battery keeps overheating whenever I use Facebook apps or I Heart radio for 15 minutes.

I'm fully updated 2.3 gingerbread it runs good, but when the battery temp starts to rise I notice a big difference in performance and will have to reboot several times a day.
