G3 Notification Light Not Flashing

Ok, so after going back to default settings I think it is working. It flashes when calls from contacts come in and texts, but as someone else said it is a very slow blink. Wish I could speed it up. Annoying to say the least. Will keep messing with it.

Are you sure that "Downloaded apps" is ticked?

I think that it was not ticked by default.

yeah- LED On in Settings\Display.
No worky.
This one's going back to AT&T today.

Sorry for the late reply, I did not realize this thread had more replys after mine was fixed. For me personally I was getting no LED flashing accept for the blue light when I turned on my screen. When I went into the notificaiton light settings it would worked correctly when I clicked on each of the different otpions, but then not flashing when an actual notification came in. The way I "Fixed" it was to mess with the volume settings of the phone. After I turned up the volumne it began working again. I figured it had something to do with a silent mode that also impacted the notification light, not too sure. However, now that it is working again, it also works when I put the phone into Vibrate etc.

Hmm, I have the verizon G3 and when I get a text from my wife, the light comes on (Cyan) and blinks once every 2 seconds.

Have you turned on Notification LED under Settings, Accessibility, Hearing?

For me also, only the blue light when opening the lockscreen.
Otherwise nada. have tried every setting.
Today went back to AT&T, exchanged phone for new one...same damn thing.
I'm going to have to download this lightflow app just to get notification LED to work???

Did you actually return a phone because the LED notification? Haven't most Android phone's notification always been a little wonky I even remember Nexus phone having that issue. Well I hope your new device doesn't have anyother issues like I've been reading about. Personally I would have held on to the first phone if it didn't have any other issue but LED notification.

But yes lightflow should make things better.. Well it did for the Nexus 5

go through all these settings.

1. check the quick toggle is the led on (colored in)
2. go into settings -> display -> notification led turn that on, then click on it and make sure all options are checked.
3. go into accessibility -> notification led agian make sure its turned on and make sure all options are checked.

4. see not changes try restarting ur phone

if all else fails. get this app.
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...?id=com.koo.lightmanager&hl=en&token=5k3xdE3n

with that app u can set the led notification for any app, the blink rate, also u can test and see if all ur colors working.

Yup, did all this. And set LED parameters on my email app too.

Last night it worked for the first time. I got slow-flashing LED notifications for new email on two accounts- and they were properly color-keyed to the accounts! today it is not working. All I did between last night and today was power off and back on. Very , very odd.

Just to be clear, the LED should flash WHENEVER a new email/text/phone comes in, right? Not just when you open the lockscreen after the phone has been sitting for a while. right?

I believe you are correct on this. My phone is set to not turn on the display when new text/email/etc comes in as well. Not sure if that is how you have yours set up?

More questions if I may. (this is the first device I have had with notifications LED)
I have LED notifications running normally now...I think.
Question: If I have two email accounts, and each has it's own color, let's assume an email is received on account 1 and after that on account 2. Are the lights supposed to alternate 1, 2, 1, 2..... or does light color #1 come on, and stay blinking that color, even though #2 is trying to blink in the background? This is what's happening to me. As soon as I clear (read message) from account 1, the LED for account 2 will start blinking.

From what I understand, that is normal.

LightFlow allows you to do color cycling as you have described it.

I've found the LED to be a bit weird... For texts it blinks green in doubles - fairly fast, for Gmail is blinks green every 10-15 seconds (I didn't count), for Twitter it is green and kinda fast, Facebook is blue and normal speed. Oddly enough for calendar notification it only blinks once and then it is done. For exchange email it doesn't blink at all. Both of those are native apps too. So I don't know... BTW, sorry if my counting is off on the blink patterns.

My notification blink rate, at least for a text message, is 12 seconds.is there a way to speed that up without an app?

I'd 100% return a phone if the notification light didn't work. There are a lot of times I have my phone on silent for various reasons and rely on the light.

I've had 4 android phones and never once had a "wonky" notification light.

Light flow didn't work right for me either. I've resigned myself to the slow blink, sadly.
