G3 vs G4 Cameras

Hey @Belodion and @Duncan, I'm glad to see you guys in here!

Question though, do you think the G4 pictures look better zoomed in just because of the higher megapixel count?

I'm no expert but that's were the 16mgp would come into play but also the f1.8 aperture.

🙋☺ lrrowley! It's surprising how many of us in this forum have met before. :)

Regarding the camera, I think it's a combination of megapixels, sensor size, and software. Colours are richer....that's not just the G4 display because I'm transferring them to the G3 via the SmartShare Beam so as to post everything here in one go from the G3, and the richer colour is still evident on the G3 display. There's more sharpness and detail to the G4 shots which I guess must be due to both hardware and software differences. I don't know what difference to picture quality the wider lens aperture would make. In the world of film cameras I would have expected that to cause greater softness due to the residual lens aberrations, but I guess that with a phone camera, the software takes care of that.

Then there is that pro mode for the adventurous:-)

Small world but hello from Scotland:-)
