G3 vs. Note 4

G3 or note 4

I am some what of a device fanatic. I spend and waste a lot of money on devices each year. I got the iphone 5 on launch hated fhe screen size, switched to the galaxy s4 sold it because it kept overheating (plus I don't really like Samsung). Got the droid maxx on launch sold it after 3 months for terrible canera performance and got the nexus 5 which I really liked. My only complaint with the nexus was the screen felt too small for my really large hands so I got the lg g3 on launch. I really like the g3, the size the camera everything about it. My only issue is I have random freezing that requires a battery pull. I tried rooting and that didn't fix the issue. I'm not entirely dissatisfied with the phone but the new note has me drooling. I have always wanted the note since the note 2 came out but I always talk myself out of it. I was going to purchase the Sony z ultra but talked myself out of it. Now that the note has been announced and I love the design I am having a hard time talking myself out of it. On paper they are very similar but the note has the 805 processor and a 16 mgpxl camera but I don't know if I will be just throwing away money since those differences are not that major. I know I won't use the stylus much because I don't even use pen and paper much. Yet I feel if I don't get it I will drool over it since I have been drooling over the 3 for this whole time. What are your thoughts people, anyone thinking of switching to the note or prefer the lg??

I too suffer from the same psychological disorder..

I've had the note 2 and note 3 previously (aside from plethora of other devices I've owned) it's my opinion that they're easily the best devices Samsung devolopes. I'm seriously considering the switch

Lol the crazy part is the g3 is a very good phone but now that new phones were announced I'm all of a sudden not feeling it. A week ago I was saying this is defintly the best phone I have owned lol

Re: G3 or note 4

For those that have a LG G3 like me and are considering the Note 4 you will lose the following

- headphone jack at bottom. Better position to the Note 4 located on top
- rear buttons mean slimmer width to hold, meaning more comfy
- fm radio on g3. Missing on Note.
- infra red software has more button options on g3
- on screen menu button customisation

Of course the Note 4 does have many options the G3 doesn't have but I thought I would try and convince myself to keep the G3 if I wrote out the pros.

Right I have decided I'm keeping the G3 oh and I'm Keeping the Z2.

And I'm going to purchase the Note 4 and that's it no more phones for 2 years lol

I actually prefer the jack on the top. I don't know why these manufacturers think its better on the bottom. I do like the rear button set up but don't know if the rest matter. I rooted my g3 and put the gpe launcher on it so it mimics my nexus 5. But something about the notes design has me intrigued even though I know I won't use the pen much

I had the Note , Note 2 and Note 3. Only at Note 3 did I feel the stylus had developed enough, so I'm quite excited by its improvement with the Note 4. You may not use the stylus everyday, but its great when you do need it.

As to the headphone jack, having it on the bottom is meant to be better when in a car window mount , as all cables at bottom, taking out of pocket for same reasons. I understand why you like it on top though.

I hear you. I use my phone more outside the car so for me its annoying having my phone upside down

I guess its all subjective... after seeing the new Moto X, I have to say I think that design is up there with the M8... maybe even better... the alumimum frame that's had more organic curves like the M8 and think it looks pretty good with the wood backs and leather backs and actually wouldnt mind going caseless on those at this point because the leather or wood could develop a nice worn look to it adding character. Always liked the feature where you can hover over it to view notifcations when locked... just as cool as the knock knock feature. And as close as you get to stock Android too.

I honestly think that in terms of design the G3 has it for this year...build is also great but the HTC M8 would get that crown.

I prefer the jack on the bottom because I put my phone in my pocket upside down. That way when I go to grab it in my hand it's right side up.

Sent from my HTC One Mate... I mean M8

Like you I do like the new Moto X and moto maker its certainly got style. I quite enjoyed IFA and all the tech that it produced :-).

yeah, just wish the moto360 didnt have bad reviews on battery and could last two days. on the fence but will probably pull the trigger on that. surprised the moto x has a smaller battery too even though its been known to do well with the battery it had last year. if the camera had ois and a 3000 mah battery it would be getting a lot more attention maybe. loving the g3 camera over g2 and guess due to it's ois and laser focus.

I don't think that or I know that OEM's can't cater for individual needs. The moto x perhaps runs smooth on the 801 and 1080p that battery won't be to much of an issue, only time will tell.

The stands outs for me are

1)Moto 360 and from what I have watched, android central, android authority and pocket now they all speak highly, have to wait for proper reviews.

2)The G watch R I like the style and that it displays full circle unlike the moto 360 but both looking good.

3)Zenwatch wow this is nice and one that I like over the G watch R or moto 360 perhaps not but still great.

4)Galaxy Note 4 & Edge which the latter I'm not sure of and the former I'm purchasing.

5)Intrigued by the VR and I do like innovation.

6)Moto X and really do like what Motorola offer and the moto maker is just such a brilliant idea.

7) Huawei and the G7 looks good.

In fact all has their own merits and tbh I think it was a great show for all things tech :-)

I prefer the huawei honor 6 over the g7 tho. The processor also out performed the 801 in benchmarks if I'm correct.

I'm now warming towards the Note edge just because its well different I like different lol

But my practical mind may just stick to the norm and purchase the Note 4.

Decisions Decisions....
