G4 - Great Voice/ Call Quality

I've been getting comments from people I talk with most frequently that the voice quality of the G4 is stellar. Even better than my last phone, the G3. I also think - (and I never attempted to quantify with my G3) - that the radio is stronger/better. As in no dropped calls. My G3 was a good one, no complaints. But the G4 is even better. I'm on T-Mobile and it is true for HD calls (T-Mobile to T-Mobile), and also when I call other carriers and land lines.

One more thing, notice how there's not much talk (good or bad) about the audio quality of the G4 for listening to music (other than the standard BT discussions/issues you see for any phone)? IMO the sound is really really good, and I use decent audio gear - IEM's and headphones!

Anyone else agree that the call quality of the G4 is an improvement over other phones?

Yup! I had a G3 with Sprint and call quality wasn't that great. G4 on the other hand I sound good and people sound good to me as well! Both my brother sister can confirm this since they hate calling me when I'm on Sprint. I believe my carrier is more at fault here, lol!

I have the international model so I don't think I get HD voice - either way no complaints about call quality. Same as my S6 and the 6+ I tried before it. People on the other end don't complain so I assume everything is fine.

Note - I use around 1.5k minutes a month so the basis for this is coming from a good amount of talk time.

Dang...that's some phone talking...

One of my main complaints of my G4 is how it sounds when I actually use the phone. My iPhone sounds like they are standing next to me. The G4 sounds like they are down a tunnel. I have 4-5 Bars lte and volte turned on.

I've had the same experience. I use around 3k voice minutes a month for work and I've had multiple people ask if I got a new phone because I sounded much better. Came from a note 4. I love the call volume as well.

Try a good quality headset just for testing. Voice quality isn't at the top of my list of things for a phone, but I kept hearing how good the sound was, and I noticed on my end too.

Zendroid1, that was my reaction too. I actually thought the unit was defective because the Galaxy S4 I upgraded from didn't sound like that, but my husband's G3 sounds like a tunnel as well. I even get it through earbuds with a mic. The only thing that made a difference was turning down the volume.

I was tallking - G4 on my end and iPhone 5s AT&T on the other end last night and sound quality was terrible. Compressed sound. I had to use headphones to hear clearly and we both have excellent signals. I think the bad quality was due to AT&T or that handset.

Also, cases can cause sound problems. I wonder how many issues are caused by a case getting in the way.

My biggest problem with calls is the volume of the person I'm talking to. On my S4 I had no problems hearing the person while walking outside....with the G4 I'm struggling to hear them with the volume all the way up. I wonder if this is something they can resolve with an update.

Bump.
This is my same problem.
I was just talking over the phone while outside and the volume was just too low for me to hear them. Turned the volume all the way up, played with the setting to "enhance voice" (which did the opposite), but nothing.

May be a silly question, but are you using a screen protector or is there a chance that something else is interfering with the speaker?

I'm finding this to be an issue as well. I can't hear anyone! Especially if I'm outside!

Not a solution - when I'm outside I use in ear monitors with a mic or headphones with mike inline. But without, unless it's windy, no problem hearing.

Same issues here....its veeery difficult to hear the other person talking and also with the headphones on listening to radio...I am struggling to hear some music while doing my jogging. Any recommendations pleaseeee?
