G4 hint of the day: Use Nova launcher and still use "double tap to sleep"

I tried out the stock launcher, but after 2 years of using Nova I just couldn't dig the stock launcher. But there's that cool "double tap to sleep" feature... how to keep it? It's part of the stock launcher!

Solution:
  • make sure have Nova Prime (pay a few bucks) and you can use "gestures"
  • install the free "Screen Off and Lock" app
  • set up the running of Screen Off as a double tap gesture within Nova Prime
It works like a hot damn ;)

I don't know how many days I can keep this up, but I'm going to try for a "hint of the day"... enjoy!

Been doing this over the last year and it is a great workaround.

Off topic but you're obviously a Nova fan with a G4 so I have to ask..

You know the widget that comes stock with the phone? I actually rather like it but for some reason can't seem to be able to use it in tandem with Nova launcher....

Am I just bad at this all of a sudden or has that been the case for you as well?

Thanks

I'm not really sure because I uninstalled most of the lg bloatware... including that widget ;)

But seeing how the rest of the lg ui works, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an actual "widget" as far as Nova is concerned.

I see what you mean, that makes sense. Searching on it proved fruitless with a bunch of suggestions to just use Zooper.

I'll stick with the whole modern minimalist theme I have goin instead.

Can it be set up to just turn the screen off and not lock it?

When using Nova you can also just double tap on the notification bar without installing any additional software.

I don't think there's a way to control the display itself so much as it just has the ability to control the lock mechanism which in turn turns off the display. Hope that made sense.

Do you know of any way to make the Google Now page come up as the left most swipe using Nova Prime? I know it launches as a swipe up from the home button, but I really like it being my left most page.

Hmmm... good question. There's a Google Now widget, but it's pretty small (compared to the Google Now "page") and it's not resizable (very odd, but true.)

I think your best bet is to stick with the swipe-up home technique.

If you do a Google search https://www.google.ca/search?q=nova+launcher+google+now+page you'll see there are lots of people asking the same question.

Does your Nova swipe up gesture works on your G4? I find that mine can't. Other gestures like swipe down and double tap all works.

Works great :) I have swipe up set to show the app drawer, and swipe down set to show phone settings.

I'm getting the same double tap wake and double tap sleep on my stock G4. Double tap on sleeping screen and it wakes. Double tap on notifications and it sleeps. You have to do it in in an empty area in notifications however otherwise you launch that notification.
