G4 or S6?

I have the G3 and like it a lot. Will keep it for another year. My dad has Nexus 5 which I bought some 2 years ago. Works fine but definitely time for upgrade. I read a lot about the sudden death issue of G4 etc.

My friend has the S6 and likes it. G4 has bigger screen size which I like.

I wonder, what would you buy?

I would buy the HTC M9 But if I have to choose between those two I would go with the S6, only because it's easier to root and the selection of custom ROM's is bigger. If we take the specs in consideration keep in mind that the G4 has 3000 mAh battery, while the S6 has 2550 mAh. The G4 also has a better front camera. The processing power is somewhat the same. (S6 has two quad core processors - G4 has one quad core and one dual core). I hope all this info will help you decide.

I'd suggest G4, even with the death issues. Non-AMOLED screen, removable battery, SD card support, awesome camera, great performance.

Only the early G4's were at risk of the main board fault. Newer ones have an updated unit.

If such things matter, if you are on T-Mobile, the G4 is as easy to root as a Nexus... Once it's bumped to 6.0. The steps are the same. LG finally stopped screwing around with the bootloader... It's all fastboot stuff now... No wierd tools or sketchy apps.

I have both. I don't do any rooting but I prefer the display and the form factor of the G4. Hate the white balance on the S6. Side by side results I prefer G4 camera.

If I was to buy now it would be a S7. They added waterproofing and brought back the SD card, things the S6 lacks

G4 anyway. no screen burn in issues if like me you leave it on for navigation for hrs a day.
Moveable buttons too, and it's great in your back pocket with it's curve.
Not sure why people are so keen on samsung myself.
I nearly went for the note 4, so glad I didn't.

Thank to all who answered. My dad probably does not need rooted phone. I also like the screen and form factor of the G4. I'll make sure it's not the 505-509 s/n.

DEFINITELY G4. I went to s6 when they first came out and I. HATED. it. If I wanted an iPhone, i would have bought a damn iPhone. The user-friendliness and customization were severely cut from s4(last samsung I owned), and to top it off, even with a phone protector, the screen is still one of those "if you tap it wrong it can break" like the iPhones. Mine fell out of my pocket outside while seated and it SHATTERED. I had had it for a week. That was the last straw. I love my g4 so much, the sheer amount of customization it allows is absolutely awesome, especially all the cool bells and whistles in the camera app.
