G5 owners - happy or not?

Well after a good week with the LG G 5 very happy, it's like night and day coming from the LG G4 , this to me is a very good phone, I was fortunate that o2 gave me a unbranded LG G5 , so far I love the speed of the phone,
Quick Charge is brilliant , so so far so good , and I have been using it heavily , so I recommend this phone

Very cool, same here... Also very much love the speaker's sound from my G5... Enjoy!!

Mine died after two weeks of use, just turned off one day whilst using it and wouldn't turn back on. The network (1&1) said it had gotten wet but it hadn't, so all we can think is that it go damp from humidity - the moisture indicator was triggered. Hence I wouldn't get another as they seem particularly fragile and sensitive to moisture, and I'm now without a phone at the beginning of a two year contract. Shame, as I loved the look of the phone and the option to swap batteries on the go. My girlfriend has a G4 which has just gotten stuck with the boot loop problem, so not too impressed with LG at the mo!

Just picked up the G5 about 15 hours ago. Good experience so far coming from one of the greatest smartphones ever, the Note 4. I needed something smaller and the V10 definitely wasn't any smaller despite being quite an interesting device. For work, having a phone so large in my pocket was very cumbersome. I see the build quality issue people talk about as far as the phone overall. It FEELS less premium but that's OK. The top of the top devices are all made of glass for the most part. It makes them look and feel exquisite, elegant and well... premium. The problem with that is impact. 3" from the floor or table and it'll most likely shatter. I rather not have a device like that. I don't want to NEED a case. And the G5 probably doesn't need one. The only piece I'm concerned about is the module that holds the battery if it were to fall. But that's besides the point of this thread.

After one day

Pro- very snappy processor, wide angle camera is awesome, fit and finish is very nice, size is just about perfect. Fantastic fingerprint sensor.

Cons- bezels could be smaller,

That's all for now.

Good review Coraya, thanks for sharing your first impressions... I'm into my 10th week and still very satisfied overall and very much enjoy using it every day. Welcome aboard fellow G5er!!

Thanks! I plan to stay! I'm keep devices longer now. I'm keeping my upgrades to once a year instead of 2. Save money and get use out of every device lol. Enjoy!

I'm sorry to hear that. I recently saw a video where they placed the G5 in a bowl of water completely submerged while it was still on. They left it on and in the water for a full two minutes. The thing was still on when they pulled it out of the water.

So.. Your claim that it's sensitive to moisture doesn't make sense.

Are you positive nothing else happened without your knowledge?

When I saw them placing it in the water I thought it would have immediately flooded with water and shorted out. But that didn't happen. I was amazed.

Check it out! Just type in "G5 submerged in water test" and the video will pop up.

I am pretty content with this phone, it was a G4 replacement , but I like it, so far so good, no complaints no issues, great phone, fast,
camera is amazing,

Camera, ambient light sensor and speaker. The fact that they made cutouts for the camera and light sensor would make you think that they intended for it to stay on. Who knows... maybe someone else will validate me at some point. ;u)

I can validate what you said. Mine was on so perfect when it actually did start to scratch up I thought I was actually scratching the screen.

At first I was so bummed I tried to use a fine rubbing compound to fix it. That made everything way worst. My phone is a week old and the screen is ruined?

Totally not happy at all.

That's when I realized it was the factory installed screen protector. You're right! It was so perfectly on there I didn't notice it. Even after all this.

So...

You can imagine the glee I felt noticing the protector and peeling that baby off to reveal a perfect, unscratched screen.

I immediately slapped on another screen protector.

So happy!

Really interesting stuff here. I have a note 3 and love it yet considering switch to LG just because I do not want to lose ir blaster. I don't use it every day but when I need it it is fantastic to have.

In Samsung fantasy land everyone has all brand new devices using rf or wifi remotes so nobody needs ir anymore. What nonsense. I doubt that more than 1% of the homes in USA don't have a single ir controlled device and most have several.

I was thrilled when lg moved the volume rocker back where it belongs but the power button should also be on the side. I can live with it on the back but limits case choices. I always use kickstand cases capable of portrait and landscape viewing.

Very disappointed in smaller screen. G4 size was perfect imo. Note a little large. V10 too big.

Reading this thread and others here I now know I need to be concerned with static on headphones, poor gps, bad auto brightness software, and a screen not bright enough to use in bright sunlight.

It's too bad. LG is the only one still using ir blaster I want but I NEED great gps and bright screen so I can only hope the G6 is a little bigger and works better. In the meantime I hope my Note 3 holds out.

If you cannot see the G5's screen in the bright sun you have something set incorrectly..

The G5 is the first and only device I own that I CAN see in the sun.

Just sayin'... It's an old post so I'm sure you've figured it out by now.

Not had any trouble with mine other than a few times it seemed to slow down and freeze, but i had left many apps open and had 2 instances of one running also had not rebooted in over a week. A reboot fixed that. Today at the gym I lost connection to my Bluetooth headset, took many tries and turning off both and starting over to get it working again. Not sure it was to phone the headset or radio interfearance to blame, that happened with my s5 b4 too.

It's become my main phone in only the three days I had it:

- Camera is good. Wide angle a bonus
- I have int'l dual sim so it has FM Radio which is nice
- IR blaster nice
- OS and Snapdragon is zippy
- USB-C with QC 3.0 Nice
- Lightweight
- headphone jack
- Phone voice quality really good
- Speaker nice
- multicolor notification LED

The only thing is I'm a capacitive button guy so I would prefer that. And a 5.5 or 5.7" screen with lesser bezels would be an improvement. Overall it is the best phone for me having the best package of things I care about.

Purchased a G5 out-of-pocket to replace my dedicated, company provided work device, an iPhone 5S, after it started becoming increasingly unresponsive. After using a V20 as my personal device since it's release, it was the logical choice for me. Like my V20, I am very happy with my G5 -- fast processor, expandable memory, replaceable battery, and the cameras are great. The finger print sensor has been fast and responsive allowing me to quickly access my G5 unlike the finger print sensor on my iPhone which was hit or miss. Having a wide lens camera is a welcome feature.

Mate i hate limited internal storage as it poses to many problems for my uses so i found this hack (without voiding warrant by the way) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H31UOrXJKH4&index=2&list=PL293MpguZMjDHknUb5_TbENv5DVW6qkYt that allowed me to bring back the Adoptive Storage option thats built into Marshmallow that LG removed (well on the surface they did but its actually still in there) following this tutorial and luckily for me fortuitous timing would have it with this Samsung and the Note 7 debacle Samsung were giving away there 256gb micro sd card for free on a promotion to those affected Note 7 users which then saw loads of people on ebay with great feedback selling them off for cheap with a $250 price point i manged to get mine for $100 which luckily upon investigation into Adoptive Storage it lives and dies based on the 4k speeds and this card is pretty much top 3 cards in existence for 4k speeds literally the rest them all suck big time for 4k speeds so i now have a LG G5 that states i have 267 GB to use how i so wish without restriction.

That's a long sentence.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.
