I have a G53 5G running Android 13. When I make or recieve a phone call the person I'm calling can't hear me unless I either switch to the speaker or plug in a headset, either cable or bluetooth. I have no idea when it first started but it hasn't been very long ago.

I have made sure that the hole for the mic isn't blocked and I remember seeing that it could be some kind to noise reduction/neutralising thing?

Any ideas please? As when I'm out and about I don't want to broadcast my calls to the surrounding world.

Edit :- I forgot to say the the mic works on the Recorder application

Many apps use the secondary mic (i.e., the one at the top of the phone), rather than the primary mic (the one at the bottom), so just because the Recorder app works doesn't exclude the possibility that the primary mic has failed. One easy way to determine if the primary mic is faulty is to record a video with a decent amount of ambient sound, and then watch it using earbuds. If one channel is completely silent, then you know that mic isn't working.

As a quick troubleshooting step, make sure the primary mic isn't blocked by anything (like a poorly fitting case) or clogged with lint.

Also try clearing cache and force stop the phone app , if these steps and above don't work out the phone in safe mode and test out the calls .

I think that I have it sorted now, with the help of my compressor. The idea of using the recorder application worked a treat. Using the earphones I found that the right channel was very quiet, but a bit of a puff at it cleared that!

I had a sudden idea after posting. I had changed the battery not long ago and I wondered if the mic connection had come loose? I'm glad it hadn't because after a lot of trying to get the back off, I gave up. Then you suggestion came up.
