G6+ Customised notification sounds question

Hi everyone. I just bought a new G6+, having previously been a very happy G2 owner.
I'm trying to customise the notification sounds for each app (FB, WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail etc) and I'm not given the option to choose my MP3 sounds from my music folder - just the stock LG sounds.
Is there a specific folder I should use, or is this feature no longer avaialble, (which would be a a real shame and would have been a deciding factor in my purchase, had I known before!)?

Not sure if this will help, but I had to move the mp3 file to my 'notification' folder using the "My File' phone app/icon. After doing so open the phone notification folder and if the file doesn't show up, tap on the "+" sign at top of screen. Then select the file from your phone's notification list of selections.
