G6 to Pixel 2 or V30?

Any one jumping ship? I might after a couple of months when the V30 goes down in price. About the Pixel 2...nahhhh I'll pass

I would go for the V30. It has awesome specs and I personally prefer it to the Pixel 2/2 XL.

Pixel 2 XL looks nice, but I'd go with V30 for the following 3 reasons

1. Wide angle camera. Ever since having my G6, I can't live without the wide angle camera. Forget the stupid portrait modes, it's all about the wide angle.
2. Headphone jack. I do use a bluetooth headphone when I workout, but I prefer the convenience of using my regular headphones (don't have to worry about the battery dying).
3. I like having the expandable storage option.

You bring up a really good point about the headphones versus Bluetooth headset.

You can still use wired with the 2XL. you just need to use an in line adapter.

Personally, I'd go with the Pixel... The V30 may be an upgrade over there G6, but it's still LG and they still have issues finishing the play. That XL will run better, and will continue to run better for years.

I'm still going to go down tomorrow and check out the V30 though... I gotta get out of the G6 I own and that's one of my exit options.

If I wasn't tied to this half price AT&T G6, I would go for the Pixel 2 XL. I think the knowledge of getting the fastest updates would help keep my longing for the next great thing satiated.

Although, this freaking 2 year contract is definitely keeping me from jumping ship, so I guess it's doing a good job of keeping me from impulse buying.

I'm on the 50% off deal as well.
I ordered a P2 XL 128gb and keep looking at my order summary. $1,179.61.

I just can't justify it. The G6 is solid. Its just a tad smaller and runs smooth. The camera is great as well.

I am with you there. This phone is the best phone I've ever used. Really going to enjoy using this for the next few years.

Who am I kidding, I'll prolly bail for the Pixel 3 xl next year. I need you guys to talk me out of it when that time comes.

LOL. That's what I just told myself.

I've got Pixel envy though. The panda color scheme is awesome, so I made up a custom slickwrap skin with the black on top and white on the bottom 2/3 and a small orange bar at the bottom.

Call it the "poor man's Pixel", but the price difference is a big win.

Watched the entire Google event. Pixel 2 XL is nice. With no expandable storage I'd have to go with the 128gb option. I cannot justify it. I don't think the camera will be that much better. No wide angle lens, no wireless charging, no headphone jack. All things I lose from this G6. All things I love and use. All things the V30 has.

That said, I'm not sure I can justify the V30 unless there's a steal of a deal on it. The G6 is to good and I got it on a BOGO deal. Yes the V30 is an improvement but I don't think it's that much. However I do have jump with TMO so there's always a chance with the right deal.

We'll try! In my own experience, not too many people succeeded in talking me out of a phone purchase... 🤣.

I'm absolutely loving my G6, but if Verizon has some sort of Black Friday or Christmas special on the V30 I might be tempted to jump ship. The extra screen real estate would be something my eyes would enjoy, and although this is by far the best LCD I've ever had both in terms of colors and brightness, not to mention no polarisation in landscape mode, I do miss the AMOLED that I had back in my Note 3 and Note 2 days. I need to make time to get to a Verizon store to see a V30 in person, I was there the day it was released but my local store did not have one there. Also, if by the grace of God they released the blue version here I would go nuts trying to get one, that color looks insanely great to me. I don't know why these manufacturers only release certain colors in certain parts of the globe, I think if LG released the blue one here in the US they would get awesome sales.

I'm sort of doing both. I have a NIB first gen XL coming tomorrow and I'm kicking the G6 to the curb... No more patience with the thing. It'll get traded in for a V30, which will probably end up going back after I play with it for a couple of weeks... Leaving me with the OG XL.

I just got sick of screwed up versions of Android that OEMs are using. I went to take a pic of my son at a MLS game tonight and the whole phone froze solid for a good 30 seconds. The V30 is going to be prone to the same software derps the G6 has. I'm all set with that.

I've came from an OG Moto X, to a OnePlus One, to a Priv, all 3 which ran as close to stock as any non Nexus/Pixel phones, and these past 6 months with the G6 has been my best.

Trust me, I get the wanting of having a pixel that will get the updates faster than anyone, but from a day to day experience, I feel LG has done a great job.

I own a V20 and never gonna sell it.
For me v30 is an outward downgrade. No removable back,no dedicated memory slot(2+1),no IR Blaster, no secondary screen......I like pixel but heck, the XL2 is even a more downgrade than my 2016 V20!

It's not really the UI... LG has improved that a lot the past couple of years. I actually have no complaints about the look of the new interface. It's the under the hood stuff... inconsistent performance, bad memory management, instability that gets much worse once you start accessing the camera... a bunch of little things that have driven me nuts since I switched phones with my wife in the summer. Fit and finish type work that LG has always had a hard time completing the play.

This is my first LG phone, and so far I haven't had any of those issues. Hopefully my good fortunes keep up for the life of the contract.

Oh, I've had a few; Nexus 5, G3, G4, Nexus 5X along with a tablet and they are hot and cold when it comes to software. When they had little involvement (Nexii) the phones ran quite well.. when they did, G3/4, it would spit and cough on many an occasion... something I still see in the immensely more powerful G6.
