G6 vs S8 Plus. Does this compromise sound good?

If you read my posts over on the S8 forums, you will see I've posted about the S8 Plus and possible hefty price tag and other things which will make me consider it.

If the price is sky high and I'm not impressed by the reviews over the next couple of weeks, is this idea a good one?

I was thinking if I don't get the S8 Plus and get the G6 instead and use the money savings towards a Tab s3 which of course has the Spen. The combo overall will cost more than buying a S8 plus, but I'm getting the spen with it! I got a Tab s2 and V20 I can eventually sell or trade in at Best Buy towards the Tab S3 as well.

Then when the Note 8 comes out I can decide if I want to trade in my G6 or sell it. However if I have the Tab s3 that could shy me away from the Note 8. Afterall the Note 8 might be similar to an oversized tab s3.

I know with the G6 I will miss a few features but I would have the Tabs3 for my samsung fix.

What is your take?

If the S8 Plus is $900 more I will give this option some thought. Samsung is really playing with fire pricing the phones as high as rumored. Another option might be to wait a bit. If they give these a comically high price and sales or bad it might force them to lower the price of it.

With the G6, I was able to place a JUMP! on Demand order on T-Mobile for it, only putting down $56, which I believe most of that was the upfront tax for the lease. I'm going to assume that T-Mobile will ask for a larger down payment for the S8 like they do with the 7 Plus and 7 with larger memory variants. That might be something to consider, as that upfront money is basically lost, should you decide to JUMP! again.

I pay in full for my devices.

Jump on demand doesn't require a down payment. TMobile tried to introduce one with the Note 7 last year and got hit with some serious backlash and they backed off. You wouldn't pay sales tax on the lease up front, that is paid monthly.

This is along the same lines of what Im considering. Ive got the G6 (because I refuse to buy the S8 or S8 plus), and I may get a Tab S3 when they go on sale as Im not about to pay $600 for one. When the Note 8 comes out its going to probably be $900. The trade in on the G6 is going to be $200 at any store, including mobile stores, by then. You could probably sell it in perfect condition for $350 through ebay, craigslist, swappa etc. The Tab S3 should bring about $400 in perfect condition since they dont get released that often. If all goes well and you get $750 for both items and buy the Note 8, you'll have essentially paid $1300 for the Note 8 and thats if you get the Tab S3 for $500.

So theres you're perfect scenario. Are you willing to pay $1300 for the Note 8 and deal with selling you're stuff to an individual as well as making sure for the next 4-5 months you dont damage it in any way including scratches?

Upon typing this I have just talked myself out of a Tab S3 and am going to hold off for the Note 8 as long as they dont do something foolish with the design or hardware. At that point Ill grab the Tab S3.

Why not just wait for the note 8? I know easier said than done. Are you still using the v20?
