Ga;axy S8 Active Turns Itself OFF

[Android Central Question]

My S8 Active will turn itself off, and the only way to restart it is by pressing the power button and volume down button at the same time. When it boots, all the apps load but I immediately get my voicemail notification, then the phone turns itself off. My phone is totally unusable and is the ONLY phone I have. I need to get it running because I of health problems in case of emergency, as has happened.
I tried Safe Mode but realized I do not really know how to utilize it.
Can someone Please help me on this as soon as possible. The phone will not stay on long enough to even go to settings and do a Factory Reset. It immediately shuts down and totally unusable.

It could be a hardware or software problem, but, regarding Safe Mode, if the trouble persists in that mode, the cause is not a third-party app.

Welcome to Android Central! Safe Mode temporarily disables all 3rd party apps that you installed. So, related to what belodion mentioned above, if the problem goes away in Safe Mode, then you know that something you installed is the problem.

If the problem doesn't go away in Safe Mode, then try wiping the cache partition: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...wipe-cache-partition-samsung-galaxy-s8-active

Does the battery drain very quickly? If so, the battery might be failing.

Power button/volume down takes you to download mode , I'm not clear on what you mean here?
