Galaxy 4 watch permissions

So when I try to type back or talk to text from my watch, now it says I need to enable the permissions. They are all and have been enabled. Cache is cleared as well.
What in the wild wild world of sports is going on??

Have you checked that permissions are also enabled properly on the phone? Have you tried disabling them and re-enabling them? Do you have issues replying to other apps (like e-mail) or is it just the Messages one?

Weirdly, just the messages one. I've done everything except threaten it's existence lol.
Maybe this is the universe saying it's time to upgrade.

Does the Wearable app AND the Messages one have permissions on the phone to access text messages? Is this with the Samsung app or the Google one? (I could have sworn there was an option to select which one to use with the watch but I can't seem to find it)
