I just purchased my phone on May 17th. I am having an issue where I press the power button to wake up the phone and it doesn't want to wake up. Sometimes the screen is back-lit and there is nothing, sometimes there is no prompt to unlock the phone by swiping.

Welcome to Android Central! Or does a simple reboot help?

First, I do not know how to put the phone in safe mode. Will I be able to call and use internet?

Second, restarting the phone is not a permanent solution, it will act up eventually.

Third, the Samsung kiosk at Best Buy said that this is a software issue and I would have to wait until the next update and hope that fixes the problem.

Fourth, I increased the phones virtual RAM from 2 gb to 4 gb. This helped some, but I am still having the issue.

Fifth, thank you all for trying to help.

Here are the steps for Safe Mode: www.samsung.com/in/support/mobile-devices/safe-mode-on-samsung-phones/

The purpose of Safe Mode is for troubleshooting. If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, then you know that something you installed is causing the problem. The challenge then is to narrow down which app is the culprit, which can be more tedious -- you may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away.

Try increase to 8 see what happens but try safe mode
