I'll try to keep this simple. I had 2 S7's with verizon, I ran the contract to the end and went on a standard plan. Got tired of a small screen. Bought 2 unlocked Galaxy's from bestbuy, verizon did not like that, very nasty. Decided to switch back to T-Mobile, made things worse. I have an A51 and A52, they will not unlock one IMEI! They lied as before that it is unlocked. For months the run around. While investigating verizon says unlocked, T-Mobile checked the IMEI and it shows locked to verizon also Samsung checked and confirmed the same! Switched T-Mo SIM cards no good, I checked setting for service provider software version and the A51 it's verizon! On the working correctly A52 it is T-Mo. Who is telling the truth? How do you get rid of verizon?

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Note9 forum the More Samsung Phones forum (since there's no specific forum for the A51 or A52).

Did you actually try to activate these phones on Verizon originally? In some situations, simply activating a phone on a network can potentially lock the phone to that network. This was seen on iPhones and (I think) T-Mobile a while back.

The 4 phones I mentioned were all registered with verizon. 2 S7's under a contract and went to term, thereafter the payments were defaulted to a standard phone & data plan much cheaper. The A51 and A52, purchased from Bestbuy were then replacing the older phones, all I believe were locked for service (unlocked phones). After switching back to T-Mobile verizon tried to charge me $240.00 for not completing a contract. They admitted they were wrong!. I believe this may have something to do with the unlocking problem. This has gone on for months. They will not let me talk to management. I think someone somewhere eaither made an error or are doing this on purpose because I didn't buy from them. They have lied many times. Even the controler of IMEI's Samsung told me the number is locked to verizon. I wish I could find a way to talk to management! Sorry for the long story. Oh I forgot, T-Mobile had me switch SIM card from my working phone to test, made no difference.

Ugh, that's a tough situation. Not sure what the next step should be, since you're right, Verizon doesn't really have a vested interest in trying to resolve this. It's probably too small of an issue to look for legal help either.:(

If "SIM card is not from verizon" is the ONLY error message you see when inserting a non Verizon SIM, then the phone *is* actually SIM unlocked. I know it's a confusing message, but if they were indeed SIM locked, you would get a totally different message stating to call their 1-800 numbers in order to get the phone unlocked
