Not sure if this is the right forum but these were designed for the S10.

Anyway, I can't really tell any difference with the ambient mode on or off except for a rare random sound that sometimes will make it through. The one thing I did hear clear were sounds made when I was taking off my jacket. That's when I first heard real ambient sound.

It doesn't seem to matter if it's people talking, cars passing by, etc. but everything is equally muffled. The number of complaints on the Samsung's community forum seem to be piling up.

I've heard IconX buds and they have great ambient mode sound.

Anyone here have Galaxy Buds that can get ambient mode working?

Was at the gym yesterday and notice the same thing. Ambient mode isn't nearly as receptive as the IconX.

Did you all get the latest update for the buds?

I've received probably 3 total updates for them since getting them, maybe 4.

I checked again tonight, just to make sure, and no new update.

Where does one look for updates to the buds? The Samsung Gear app? If that's the case wouldn't any updates be applied automatically just like they are to every other app?

Sometimes it doesn't. While your buds are connected An update message will sometimes appear when you open the Galaxy Wearables app or you can go to the bottom of the Wearables app and go to the About Buds at the bottom and check for an update.

Yeah I'm on the same version. Is your ambient volume all the way up. I can definitely hear a difference when I'm riding the train to work and have to activate ambient sound to hear messages from the train conductor.

Also, are you using the proper esr tips to make a proper seal in your ear?

It is all the way up and the tips are perfectly snug. I do have voice focus on, but have tried it with that enabled and disabled.

Call me crazy don't expect too much from these buds, the only thing you gain is no wires from the headphones in the box. Sound is terrible, call quality is horrible. They are wireless and charge wireless, that's all folks. Thanks Samsung for giving them away to the people that pre-ordered though.

Yeah they are truly mediocre. Take away true wireless and the integration it has with the phone and they are no better than cheap $20 Chinese buds. Sound quality is average at best.

I'll see if I can force an update. It did the first time I used them.

I'm not expecting much for sound quality.

I have Bose QC 35s for when it matters but I want to use these for monitoring run paces and listening to podcasts when walking/running without being cutoff from the environment. For that I would guess the IconX are the way to go.

Yeah the ambient mode sucks. It's much better on my IconX. Only problem is I can't seem to find my IconX anymore smh.

Just like air pods you don't use them for great sound. More convenience and easy pairing

They are as good as air pods for me
