For those of you that have gotten your buds, has anyone used them on a plane yet? If so how good are they at blocking out the outside noises on a plane?

Trying to decide if it's better to take these or over the ear beats.

Depends on which 'over the ear' headphones you have. If they have active noise cancelling, chances are the over the ear will be better at drowning out noise on a plane. That being said, the way the Buds nestle in your ear already make it for a sealed experience and they do drown out a lot of noise. Whether or not that will be enough for you, it's up to personal preference. I had no issues flying with mine and a pair of Jabra 65t, but if I don't activate audio pass-through, I could hear, albeit faintly, when the seat belt sign came on/off and conversations around me (not too loud) if I wasn't playing any audio. If I played audio, however, I could barely hear anything other than my music.

The main problem I see with the Buds is battery life. Over the ear ones are usually rated for 10+ hours, while the buds will last you 5 to 6. Unless you stop and charge mid-flight, they won't last a very long trip.

Oh yeah good point on the battery life. Got an 8 hour flight so the buds wouldn't make it if I used them the whole time. Thanks for that reminder

Funny you mention this. I went on vacation this weekend and decided to use my plane flight as a chance to test my new Galaxy Buds against the AKG NC60 headphones which came with my S9+. The AKG headphones are objectively better because they have noise canceling. It's been my observation that noise canceling works best for constant hums rather than erratic sound (for those who are mathematically inclined what I'm trying to say is: it works best when it's canceling sound whose Fourier transform consists of a linear combination of delta functions). The minute I put my NC60 headphones on the sound of the engine pretty much disappeared and I could play music at a fairly low volume without any issues.

That said, the Galaxy Buds were by no means bad. As long as you choose a tip that fits your ear well, it seals much of the noise and allows you to hear most of the nuance in your music. I have a pair of Beats Solo 3 which I did not bring on this trip, but my guess is that the Galaxy Buds would be about the same, except that the Beats would have a better dynamic range. That's kind of been my experience with the Buds overall. They're worse than most of my other premium headphones (including the Bose Soundsport Free, which I also own), but not much worse. And because they're so darn small and convenient, I find myself using them a lot.

Well powershare would give you some more time as well.

That will only charge the case, but you still need to stop and charge the buds in the case (which holds about 1.5 'charges' anyway). If you want a consistent, non-stop experience throughout the flight (or any activity), the buds won't make it past the 6 hour mark. You would have to stop, charge (again, if you don't do powershare or charge the case at all, it still holds about 10 more hours of play), wait for the buds to have 'full juice' again, and then resume play.

Not unless you only use one bud and then swap when it dies... but then you lose the whole noise isolation thing so

For air travel I would recommend wired buds or better yet, wired over the ear...and save the wireless for pedestrian mode.

For anyone with buds, have you noticed weak bluetooth signal. When phone in pocket I hear occasional tone sound. I wasn't sure what was but when take phone out of pocket and hold chest high it stops. If phone is in pocket and touch phone to adjust volume, signal completely stops sound from buds. I am guessing buds since no issues with galaxy watch. Anyone else have issues or suggestions?
