Galaxy gear and bluetooth headphones

Im thinking of getting a galaxy gear watch but not sure if it will be able to do what I need it to.

Since the range is so good with the gear I want to leave my phone in a locker at the gym and hook up bluetooth headphones to the gear. I hate carrying my note 2 around at the gym and hoping this will be a solution to my problem since bluetooth headphones dont reach that far.

Any advice would be appreciated!

@ Ambs123: I don't believe the GG will provide the type of range you are looking for.

Remember, the GG is also a bluetooth device. So even though the range is a bit better than most bluetooth devices, it is not a stand alone device and will need the phone to be no greater than about 50 ft or so.

I have been reading about side loading music on to it..im now wondering if I can pair the bluetooth headphones directly to the gear or do they have to be paired to my phone?

DAS is right, the limited range would not allow for that. As for sideloading music to the gear, would you mind to let us know how to do that?

Novice here, so bear with my question. Since the Gear nears to be pair with a Galaxy phone to operate music, why would putting music on the Gear benefit. I load my Note 3 up with music..I use the gear to start/stop the music, don't know if I can pick. But, as far as I know, the Gear is not going to nothing without access to the phone. Since the phone has a mother load of storage, that should be the place to put the music.. Just my observation..

If you root your Gear, you can use it like a wearable android computing device. Some apps work, and in guess you can side load music and media files onto it as well. But I've not read of anyone pairing a BT device solely to a rooted Gear itself.....maybe it's possible but I'm not sure.

Regardless, that's a lot of hacking for very limited benefit IMO. I'd say screw it and either carry your Note or just buy a small MP3 player.

Good point, and lately on my bike rides, I carry my Note 3, Galaxy Gear, and my old 8gb Zune!!

I have my note 3 at gym every day. I use blutetooh headphones and when I get on treadmill I place note 3 on the little shelve in front of me on the treadmill. Don't have to run with it in your pocket. It's right there in front of me to change the music or do what ever. Sometimes I even put a movie on. Could never run for an hour on a treadmill without it.

Root your gear and put amazon Mp3 and then down load your music. Its nice. Also if you want movies download Mxplayer and download your movie.

I've done this at the gym before, but I've NEVER been brave enough to leave my phone in the locker. I normally leave it in my bag located on an adjacent wall within eyesight while working out and it's awesome or at least was until a buddy pointed out that by bluetooth headphones were equipped with buttons for advancing to the next track so now it's kinda pointless.

Indeed. Using Mobilego (free trial!) You can easily side load music player and mp3 files to the gear, and the music plays great (standalone, no Note present) just through the gear ' s small speaker. No rooting necessary. Would be brilliant if someone could figure out how to pair the gear directly to BT headphones!!! I have tried side loading several Bluetooth manager apps to gear in hopes of doing this but sadly all have crashed. If the gear can send audio to headphones for phone calls, it should be possible in theory for music too. anyone???

This in my opinion is the biggest problem with trying to use the Gear as a stand alone music player, it is that you would have to settle for listening to it from the Gear's tiny speakers. Playing music through BT speakers/headsets I believe is a function of your phone which therefore makes it necessary. My Gear is rooted and I'm running the Null_21 rom and I still have not seen a way to pair the Gear "directly" to anything else BT except the phone. I was trying to do the same thing but with TuneIn Radio, which I side loaded onto the Gear, but grew tired of hearing it play from the Gear's speakers.
