Wouldn?t it be funny if The Galaxy Nexus is NOT the first phone ?readily available? running ICS?

Based on this post these guys are getting close? http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-bionic-gets-alpha-ice-cream-sandwich-rom

It would be absolutely hysterical if the Droid Bionic is available (hacked) BEFORE the Nexus is from Verizon.

I can see the Headlines on the 6:00 PM News now ?Hackers release ICS while Verizon continues to screw around, thinking they are in total control?.

Google would love it, Samsung would go absolutely nuts and Verizon would likely fire whoever the idiot is that decided to play this game in the first place.

Might help set a precedent for future releases, give it to the users first, they will at least do something with it?

Maybe then the phone companies would then actually focus on selling data and voice plans that are more competitive and leave the damn software alone.

Your thoughts?

Um.. Us nexus users have been on ICS for a little while now, everything working. My roommates Vibrant is running smooth as well. I'v used it as my daily for a few weeks.

Everyone relax. The op is new to Android coming from a iphone. Lets help our new members not talk down to them and turn them away. He read a post and didn't know ics is running on some other devices already.

I guess no one read the “readily available” part of the original post ?

Well technically with all the variety of roms for existing phones you could say that is "readily available." I mean the galaxy s line sold millions of phones and pretty much every variant has an ics rom available.

The regular Galaxy Nexus has had ICS for a while. BTW, you're lumping in custom ROMs with factory ROMs, which are two very different things. The GNex will be the first FACTORY device with ICS.
