Anyone else notice poor video playback performance from Netflix and Vevo? Is this an OS problem or phone or that the apps arent optimized yet. Whatever it is i really hope it can be fixed.

I noticed it. Netflix was just updated to support ICS, but it clearly didn't do anything. I have not noticed any other problems with video playback other than with Netflix. Flash is running perfectly with absolutely no lag, pretty awesome (and surprising)!

Enable HD. Nexus sets default at piss poor settings. It is up to you to make it great. HD kills.

Unfortunately there is no setting like that on Fandango or Flickster while watching trailers. You're right, the phone seems to select a very low rez version. Watching the same preview on the Rezound & Nexus is like day & night.

But I started using Moviefone and that app does have a high def setting for previews. Watching it that way on the Nexus is utterly glorious. I don't know why the Rezound defaults to a setting on Fandango & Flickster that seems unavailable on the Nexus. Weird.

How do I set Netflix to display HD? I was looking around in the settings, but didn't see anything.

Not only was Flash updated for ICS a few days ago, but Netflix uses Silverlight in the browser so it wouldn't matter. Netflix is an app.

Sounds like someone can up the settings.....good for you......

Can someone please provide some insight in to this, as I would like to know as well.
As is, the quallity of video playback when watching netflix/youtube videos (without adjustment) seems pretty poor to me.

Thanks in advance.

Any assistance with this..? Is there even an option or are we just taking the quality of the GN video playback as is?

Update: make sure you don't allow the market to update Netflix or you'll go back to poor quality streams.

There are no user setting for the Netflix app. YouTube has a setting for watching in HQ but if your connection is crappy you're still going to get crappy video!

When I had Netflix from the Market it haf a great picturr and video took up the who screen. Then I removed it and downloaded Netflix HD, picture was still great but didn't take up the whole screen. Not only did it show the 3 dots (buttons) but also had a boarder on the top, bottom and other side. In other words HD played a smaller viewing screen. So i deleted HD and went back to the one in the Market, back to grear picture and full screen!

I can tell you that watching HD trailers from MovieFone is utterly stunning. Playback is smooth, clarity is unreal and the colors are gorgeous. I haven't used Netflix or Vevo, but the phone is certainly capable of stunning playback given the right app.

I just downloaded the Netlfix app from the marketplace and although the video quality is good (no user settings that I can see), it doesn't compare to the HD trailers I mentioned from MovieFone. If anyone wants to see the capability of the Nexus screen, a visit to MovieFone is a must!

Remember to set the quality from 'medium' to 'high'.
