Galaxy Note 3 FoxFi screen lock can't be turned off?

You've got to swipe about 30 times now in order to get to the next step or at least that's how I got it to work.

Don't know if you guys have solved this yet or not.

Installed FoxFi today on my Note 3 and ran into the same Screen Lock Password issue everyone else has. I was easily able to change it back to swipe....but found out the FoxFi app has to be active to do this.

With FoxFi active...go to Settings, Screen Lock, Enter the passcode FoxFi made you create, All options including Swipe are now available.

FoxFi now works and I have my swipe screen back....no passcode.

I Hope this Helps.

I tried this & with FoxFi active, the Swipe option is still grayed out :(

Cheers, Jon

I've entered the wrong code 100 times and still didn't get that option to enter my google info.
Will resetting fix it?

Note2 with 4.4.2

Same problem with Rooted S5 on 4.4.2 on VZW, I went into security and cleared all certs and it allowed me to change it back to my swipe screen. I will never use FoxFI again and I used to be a big supporter of it. I don't like the cert method it uses especially since they don't have one for rooted phones and there should be a big notice when Installing FoxFI about the you may not be able to unlock your phone.

1. Start up FoxFi.

2. Clear the Certificates.
Go to settings, security, scroll to bottom and clear credentials. Make sure after you do this, the 'Clear Credentials' option in settings is greyed out. I tried to clear credentials BEFORE starting up FoxFi and it did not clear them.

3. Change your lock screen choice. Go to settings, Lock screen, Screen Lock >>> enter your pin (if asked) and then you should be able to see the other options (pattern, swipe etc..) not greyed out.

4. Enjoy.

* all actions need to be executed while FoxFi is active. That was the key. The prior post just didnt mention the clearing of credentials needed to happen after this step.

Doesn't work. When FoxFi launches it checks the location of their certificate. If not there, it requires installing the cert and setting up a pin/pwd lock screen before a connection is made.

Well...it did work as long as you were using app but when I shut her down and started up again I had to perform the steps again. Annoying.

If you don't use the tethering that much then deleting the cert and setting the swipe unlock is by far easier. I use it too much to bother fiddling with it and set a pin the requires minimal memory/effort.

OK...THIS (to restate earlier advice that worked for me) is how I fix/remove the screen lock AND still enjoy foxfi to make a WiFi hotspot, for my kids: (Samsung Note 3)

1. Install foxfi and go ahead and set the mandatory screen lock pin.
2. Start foxfi, keep it running.
3. Go to settings/screen lock/and enter pin.
4. Go to settings/security Scroll down and hit erase ALL credentials (maybe it reads delete all credentials.)
5. Return to screen lock and all options are now available (I choose swipe.)
6. Continue using foxfi or close it down...your last choice of screen lock (swipe, in my case..but "none" also works) will remain until the next time you start foxfi, in which you will repeat these steps. (No need to reinstall foxfi...but you will be prompted to create a pin, again....then just follow the quick steps (above) to remove it.)

Hope this works for everyone who, like me, never get the "click to reset pin/passcode" even after entering the wrong pin (and having to wait 30 seconds) a thousand times.

Abide!
