Galaxy Note 3 - How do you use S voice commands when screen is off

I am particularly interested in getting s vice to work with the screen locked by s view cover. Even with the physical button double tap on the headset this seems to be impossible

mine works no problem .. verizon, no flip cover. works when screen is off, very reliably. my unlock is a pattern. works in hands free mode and not. let me know if I can tell you anything specific about my settings. I use it in both it's own hands-free mode (simplified) and 'regular' mode (for lack of a better term, or non-hands-free). I do have some of the air gestures set to work and they do as well, e.g. swipe hand upward along screen from bottom to top several inches above the screen when phone is off to see a quick summary status. Only thing I've noticed there is that the phone needs to be 'at rest', e.g, on a desk, for some period of time unknown to me..it doesn't work if I turn off the screen and am holding the phone right after that (probably to prevent 'accidental' triggers of this function).

When in screen lock S Voice can not wake up the galaxy note 3.... However. If you have a galaxy gear watch within proximity of the phone you can set the gear to autolock (which locks the phone when out of proximity) and which also auto unlocks the phone (when in proximity). When in proximity the phone is in the auto lock state and Hi Galaxy will awaken the phone. You may then use voice commands as PLAY MUSIC etc...
Also if the phone is in a case as the Otter case - which I use. As long as the gear is near the phone it is not locked by the pattern and you can simply press the screen on button while it is on your belt and talk S commands ex.
Open / Launch / Play music, launch browser, message "dad", call "susan", while playing music Volume up Volume Down Next Previous

Got help about this from another forum.
This actually help fix the problem for me. I didn't change any setting after doing this and it works when the screen is off.
Maybe it will help others.

" Try turning off your phone, taking out the battery for at least 30 seconds, replace the battery, and turn the phone back on. It worked for me, as I had the settings checked as well prior to doing the battery pull."
Credit goes to BrentBridge for this...

It works for me when turned off and back on.....
But it went deaf again after few tries.... Pls advise.

No, what you need to do is add the S Voice to the administrators in the security settings.

Did that work? how do you add S Voice to administrators?

I already tried everything on this topic and nothing works :@ :(

My S voice in lock screen used to work perfectly...but now doesn't. Don't know if I accidently changed something (and Yes, I have checked and rechecked all the settings) ...I suspect it happened in the recent update. Anyone else have that happen?

I think I got it! You may have to change your lock screen to "swipe" initially before all this, then change to whatever lock screen you want. I went to s-Voice settings and turned off the Wake Up Command and the Voice wake-up, rebooted, then went back to S-Voice. Some choices came up, choose to have S-Voice wake up in locked mode and screen off and rebooted again. My "Hi Galaxy" feature now works again in pattern lock with screen off. Yay!

Update: I've had to do this several times. I think S Voice needs to be an active app when phone is off so that you can wake it up with Hi Galaxy. Several times I've had to make the choice of enabling S Voice Administrator to control when screen is locked/unlocked. Hopefully, I won't have to keep making these choices, but hey, better than nothing!

And, yes, I think it happened in the recent updates. Samsung phone or live chat service did not come close to helping. They said it couldn't be done.

I tried saying hi galaxy and it doesn't work when the screen is off. Also none of the gimmicky gestures work. Even when I turn them on.

Works for me every time, even across the room. I believe there is a setting you have to check to use "Hi Galaxy". I seriously use it all the time walking into the room and my phone across the room.

Thanks heaps Don Honda #32. I turned off the settings you suggested. Restarted my phone. Reset the same settings and now it works again. Great. Thanks again :)

I am still learning and I've had the phone since September! What I find handy is long pressing on the menu button and it brings up the search feature. Its handy for finding stuff and where their settings are located especially since there are a sh!t load of settings!

Plus you can always ask in here as people are very helpful. :-)

Sarks.

Double click your home button to bring up S Voice. When it is open, tap the menu button, go into settings, here is the wake setting. There are two wake commands, one for when the screen is off, you have to turn that on also.

I just fixed mine with the help of Verizon and Samsung. Go into settings then application manager. At the top where it says "downloaded" slide it to the left until you see "all". scroll down to S Voice. Open S Voice and clear the cache. That is all. Fixed mine immediately.

Ok I've had my note 3 for about 4 days now when I first got it everything worked great but now I can only open s voice from home screen by double clicking the home key before I could get it to open by saying hi galaxy. I can get it to open from locked screen and being off by saying hi galaxy. I have checked all settings and they are still set to how I had them when I first got the phone. And now my alarm will not snooze or stop using the keywords either. I have talked to tech support from Samsung and at the local store, tried everything posted here does anyone have any other suggestions. Tech support tells me I cant open s voice from home screen by saying hi galaxy but I'm not stupid lol I know it was doing it when I first got the phone cause I was showing it off at home and work for two straight days. I've been playing with it for at least 30+ hrs over the last 4 days.
