Galaxy Note 8 keeps muting itself.

[Android Central Question]

Just started happening yesterday. No new apps installed. Phone not rooted. All original OS. Reboots, cache clearing didn't help.
Happens regularly, but doesn't seem to be dependent on what apps I'm using. I can turn the volume up again, place phone on desk, puck it up a few minutes later, and it's put itself on mute. Driving me crazy!
I'm on the road in Bolivia currently. Will be stateside next week and will do a factory reset if necessary.....

I doubt that a factory reset will fix it, but you can try. If it doesn't, it's still under warranty, so the repair (or probably replacement) is free. And since you've done a factory reset, they won't have access to any of your data.

Thanks Rukbat. Replacing the phone seems a bit drastic, but yes, definitely an option.
