Android Central Question

In one of my Facebook groups I attempt to download a file from the 'Files' available. A box SAYS something is downloading and from the swipedown list I can both see and open that file, but it then vanishes as soon as the file is closed and is not findable again.
It's not in 'Downloads' nor in 'My Files', nor in 'Documents' nor in Polaris Office, nor MS Word, nor is it anywhere else I can think of to look.
Please help!!!

Welcome to Android Central! Use a file manager app to search for that filename. You can also search for a specific directory that Facebook might be using for its own downloads -- some app developers can be annoying that way.

I had this happen, a few times, when I first got the Note 9. I had not experienced that on any other phone.
I even started a thread x but then it just stopped doing that and I could find every download in the DOWNLOAD folder, where I had expected to find them all along.
IDK why or how it corrected.

I had this issue recently. Whenever I downloaded an image from a Google search it showed up in the top swipe bar, but I had to open it then screenshot it as it didn't appear anywhere else. Something must have changed with a recent update as this wasn't happening before. This is how I eventually found the solution:
Go to SETTINGS > APPS > GOOGLE > PERMISSIONS then make sure STORAGE is checked/allowed. Now when I download an image it shows up in the DOWNLOADS folder in my GALLERY as well as being visible in MY FILES. Hope that helps!
