Where are downloaded images from Google stored?

I notice that when I download wallpapers I like from Google image searches, I see the downloading icon and get the "download complete" message, but I can't actually set the image as a wallpaper because I don't get the hamburger menu with the option to set it. The downloaded images are no where to be found; not in Downloads, nor in My Files, or Gallery. They're no where in storage. Am I doing something wrong? What's the deal? Help is appreciated.

Gallery won't see what Media Scan doesn't see, and Media Scan doesn't run when you download a file. Try restarting the phone after a download, then look in Gallery again.

Are you using a browser or the Google app? If the Google app go to settings - apps & notifications - select it - permissions - make sure that 'Storage' is enabled. Tell us how it goes.
