Galaxy Note Pro 12.2: Auto brightness issue

I have the LTE version and the sensor for the auto brightness does not appear to have any effect on the brightness. When set on "auto" the brightness goes to maximum. If I put my hand over the sensor, the brightness stays the same. Hopefully it's a software issue. Anyone else noticing this?

works OK on my 4G, but it's always setting the brightness too low. Also this is mentioned in some of the videos. I set the brightness manually with a dedicated app.
