Galaxy S III vs Galaxy Nexus: Why the S III?

Going through sprint the gs3 is only $50 more than the gnex. That's a small price to pay for what you are getting.

Sprint is showing it as $150 more at the regular price. Of course, the subsidized price just puts the extra costs into the plan. Regardless, not seeing where you get $50.

Agree Johnly. It's all about what you want in a phone and if being on the bleeding edge of technology is worth the cost. Personally, I would only pay the extra if i needed the additional space provided by the option of an SD card or used the camera enough to want the best available camera in a phone. Everyone has their own opinions on what they want in a phone.

Off contract at sprint the phones are identical in price. Off contract the gnex is $549.99 and the gs3 is also $549.99. Where the hell did you learn your math?

The subsidized price of the gnex is $149 and the gs3 is $199. That is a $50 difference. My contract cost is the same regardless of if I get the gnex or gs3. So the deference between the two is only $50 when bought on contract.

Gnex is $400 from google. that's where i learned my math. 549.99-400=149.99 (roughly 150).

So only 50 for the people that are dead set on staying with Sprint.

This IS the sprint forum... You said in your original post that you got your prices from the SPRINT website. See below...

And I was just pointing out that THIS statement is incorrect as the regular price for the gnex and gs3 are the same on Sprint.

i checked out the price of the GS3 on Sprint but not the GNex. I meant it was a $150 more than the GNex can be had in general (albeit not thru sprint). Sorry, I guess I worded my previous post poorly.

If stuck with sprint and looking for a new phone, then I agree it is a no brainer. Even though it's the sprint forum, I thought price comparison on the open market was relevant to a simple phone comparison thread.

NP... yes ... am pretty much stuck with sprint as it's the only service within 15+ miles of my house.

Yesterday someone on xda mentioned that he had obtained a Gnex for $70.......then Videotron (Canada) began offering the GS3 for $99 for a limited time only..........these are mere examples of the types of deals that we can expect to see in the near future..........all that said, would've loved to see the Gnex offered on Sprint last Fall when my upgrade option came available, now am looking forward to November for the possible release of new Nexus devices, all rumored to be pretty pretty awesome!..............for now, however, timing has led me the path of GS3 + am stoked that we will be getting these within a week or so, but my enthusiasm is nothing compared to the great dev'ing community that is awaiting a go at these terrific devices w/ bated breath!
