Galaxy S10 and Fi

Hi all,

I'm thinking of moving my family, with our various phones, from Sprint to Fi, and perhaps picking up one or more unlocked Galaxy S10's.

How good/bad is Fi for compatible phones not designed for Fi's network switching. Is there something I will be missing from Sprint (besides the terrible customer service)?

From what I'm reading here (from the AC blog), the network switching wouldn't work, it will just default to the T-Mobile network.

@libra89 is correct. Phones not designed for Fi will use only T-Mobile. If you're going to buy new phones, why not get phones designed for Fi to get full benefit (VPN, carrier switching are a couple off the top of my head). The Pixel phones really are good devices despite them not being branded with "Samsung"...

Hey! From what I was reading, I was hearing that only the Designed for Fi phones were able to use Wifi Calling.

Now that I'm not certain about and since I'm using the e-SIM on my Pixel 2 XL for my service I can't just swap my SIM into a different phone to try it...

Just a quick comment on this old thread...any phone, like the S10, that can use Hangouts can use Wi-Fi calling that way. You don't have to use Hangouts for text messages, just the Hangouts dialer for outgoing Wi-Fi calls, and Hangouts to receive calls. Same as for an iPhone...Not beautiful, but it works. I don't mean to offend people that like Hangouts, just not a fan myself *smile*.

No workaround for lack of network switching, though. Fine by me, Sprint's never done me any favors, and no US Cellular in my neck of the woods *smile*.
