Android Central Question

Hello. I used to be able to voice type for a Google search and to dictate a text message while I was on a phone call, but I am unable to do it with this S21 ultra..a friend of mine can do it with his s20, and I could on every Motorola I've ever had

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier are you on? Are you certain your phone supports VoLTE on your carrier? If it doesn't, that might prevent you from dictating a text message while on a call, since that would be simultaneous voice and data (which requires VoLTE).

I've never tried to do this... I'll see what happens the next time I'm on a call with someone I don't mind being incredibly rude to lol.

It never fails to amaze me the things people want to do while talking on the phone. Who would ever think to voice type while talking to someone on the phone?

I've seen at least two posts asking about watching YouTube or some other video while "talking" on the phone. Maybe I'm old fashioned or just old, take your pick, but I don't get it. Where is the line, when it's just not worth it to "talk" on the phone. I, and from the memes I've seen, and quite a lot of other people prefer texting anyway. Multi tasking while texting I can see.

Way back when I did get a little excited when talking and texting started but that was because I could finally show someone what I was talking or asking about without having to call them back.

Now I'm curious what the next talking on the phone combo will be to surprise me?

It's incredibly useful if you're having a conversation and a question comes up while talking on the phone. Especially while driving. You simply used to be able to tap the Google microphone and ask your question while both parties remained on the call. It's a GREAT feature that seems to have disappeared with the newer phones and it's a real shame that we can't find an answer to why and how.
