I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 SPH-L710, stock, running Android 4.1.2. My phone will randomly reboot itself and during start up it will get stuck on the Samsung logo screen. It makes it through the first Samsung splash and the Sprint splash screens, but gets stuck on the next Samsung logo splash screen. It will just sit there on the logo and every few seconds the logo flashes (like it normally would during startup). I have had this happen well over a DOZEN times! This is my second phone. The first was replaced for this reason and the second is still doing this. I have tried suggestions such as remove the SD card, use a different SD card, and use a different size SD card. I have pulled the battery. I have cleared the cache. I have monitored which apps are installed on the device. Always the same result leaving me with the only option being to factory reset my phone! I am TIRED of setting up my phone! I really don't want to root the device either! I have reveiwed several posts similar to this problem, but they all seem to be occuring after rooting the device or are stuck for other reasons and factory reset doesn't even work. I am able to factory reset, just tired of doing so! Any advice would be very much appreciated! If anyone has any ideas for logging the event or viewing the event, I am willing to try!

What does Sprint have to say about this rather unusual repetition of behavior? Or Samsung?

If you run the phone in Safe mode can you reproduce the problem?

I am actually waiting to hear back from Samsung. I sent them a message yesterday asking for info/help. I haven't been back to the Sprint store yet, I kept thinking it was an app causing the problem. However, I have the same apps on my Samsung tablet and it has no issues.

I haven't tried to run the phone in safe mode. I did try to start it in safe mode when it was stuck, but I wasn't able to get it to work that way either.

I am wondering if my charger could cause this problem? Or a battery? These are the only constants between both phones. I have two batteries and I am going to just keep swapping them and charge them with the external charger. I honestly can't remember if this only happens when the phone is charging, but I do know that the majority of the time this occurs when the phone was plugged in. I am also going to mark the batteries to see if it happens with both batteries.

If this doesn't work I will then run in safe mode. Hopefully I will hear something from Samsung before this as well. Thanks for the ideas!!

It could be the battery causing the sudden shutdown issues, and of course if that's the case then Safe mode won't make a difference.

But it's pretty easy to boot into Safe mode, and that should eliminate any 3rd party apps, so it's worth a try as well.
