Galaxy S4: Custom Ringtones revert back to default on restart

On my new Sprint Galaxy S4 my contact ringtones revert back to the default every time I restart the phone. I have to add them all again and I have quite a few, it's a real pain! What causes this and how can I fix it please?? This didn't happen on my S3 ...

I don't have your device so i don't know if it is a common problem. It may just be a bug hopefully corrected with an os update.... In the meantime Try using handcent to set ringtones, you don't need to use it as your messenger if you do not want to. Just disable its notifications. I hope that works around your problem for now

Thanks - I already use Handcent for SMS so I will try that for assigning the ringtones too and let folks know if that works.

Hi, i'm a developer. I've the same problem and i wrote a solution for this.

It's free. When active, if detect default system ringtone, recover the last you've configured. Dont' use service (no ram wasted) the only thing is that you must check (on first time) if default system ringtones are detected correctly. Try it, if you like you can make a donation.

Hi Stefdio,
I am having the trouble mentiond by people above and downloaded your app. Unfortunately it appears that it is only the main sounds that your app. prevents from changing. My main ringtone and nitification tone do not change on reboot but my contact ringtones do. Is there nothing that can be done to stop the contact tones reverting back on reboot? This has been drtiving me mad for some time now :-\

Put ringtones on the internal memory. If they are on SD memory reboot messes them up in your settings.

I have had the exact same problem. All my contacts custom ringtone would just vanish. As I was re-adding them on, I did find a contact that did retain it's tone. His tone was saved on the device itself under a "ringtone" file. Try this. Instead of adding your tone from the contacts list, add it like this....
First, go into the Music App and find the song you want to use.
Second, hold your finger down on the title and a menu should pop up and select set as.
Third, Select Caller Ringtone and on the top select either "From the Beginning" or "Auto Recommendations". The song will play, and select done.
Fourth, Select the contact you wish to use this tune for.

The tune will now be saved on the device and it shouldn't reset anymore.

Will also work from your contacts if you have copied your ringtones to your device's ringtone folder, from your contacts you'll see 2 of the same ringtones listed in the drop down menu, first is from your device, 2nd from your sd card.
