Galaxy S4 Headphone Equalizer apps don't work after update

Samsung patched the Galaxy S4, and the DSP eq app that enables you to EQ the headphones stopped working. I restarted from cold, didnt work. I uninistalled and re-installed the app, didnt work, I installed another DSP eq app from a completely different vendor and that didn't work. The apps open up but adjusting the EQ does nothing to the sound. What should I do next?

The S4 has a new feature called adapt sound. After you go into it you will find an EQ. Don't know why it conflicts with other EQ apps (even when disabled), but it does.
