I have the same issue with my S4 using a 64GB Samsung card.

"LordAndroid" over in the GS4 ATT forum had a Sandisk with problems and replaced it with a 32gb Samsung card...solved. Yours is a 64gb Samsung...wonder why the diff?

My wife's S3 is doing this same thing...
She has a 32gb PNY class 10

About every other day it pops up the SD card is damaged. I remount it and fine until it in mounts it on its own.

Its not just a S4 issue and not a Sandisk issue.

Re: Galaxy S4 Micro SD Card Contents Can't be found after boot

I have also a problem with my SD card, though it is just a 64GB Kingston. The problem happens when I turn off or restart my phone. I started to notice it when one of the apps I downloaded and decided to save in SD card (after the useful firmware update of at least allowing saving apps to an SD card) becomes useless and could not be opened or read or simply "not installed" in my device anymore. So I tried to restart the phone thinking it was caused maybe by turning it off and could still be solved by restarting the device. To my surprise, I even got 4 apps uninstalled. And what's worse now is even the gallery where all pictures saved in SD card is not also showing. No more pictures that I have saved there could be seen in any corner of the gallery except when you try to locate them through my file folder. But alas, still I can't make the sd gallery come back and be with the other gallery folders that I have. Due to frustration, I tried another solution by taking a picture since saving setting is still under SD card. I was able to save a picture but it would take time to access the gallery, BUT STILL other pictures saved in SD card are not showing, except the latest ones. So I believe this is cause by some OS update. I am really frustrated that a 64gb SD card would still be useless after some updates from the maker. 16gb internal memory is not enough for games and other files so, to Samsung people, will you please try to find solutions to this problem and please release an update when fixing becomes possible.

I tried reinserting the card and removing the battery and rebooting. It didn't fix the program. Any other suggestions for how to get the Micro SD card from constantly unmounting?

I also have the 64gb Kingston card in my GS4. Works fine except when I add files to it....then when I reboot the phone I get that the card is damaged....go to settings>Other>storage...Mount card...done....until next time I add files.

I did have a Sandisk card that did corrupt but it was an older card and Sandisk replaced it....the new one does the same thing as the Kingston card.

2 different memory cards (from 2 different manufacturers) in 2 different Galaxy S4s and still the same problem. Must be an S4 Hardware or Firmware issue. Its frustrating and a big bug. Especially when you think you can now, or soon will be able to, install Apps onto the memory card.

Are the cards both 64gb?

This person had a bad Sandisk 32gb that he switched to a Samsung...bingo no issues at least not reported yet.

Ditto for me, 3 64GB Cards (2 sandisk , one transcend) 2 Galaxy S4's Sprint exchanged it for me and I get the same error (SD Card Unmounted, preparing SD Card) . I finally found my 32GB Card from my old phone is working (fingers crossed). It really upsets me since Samsung never offered anything more than 16GB internal . I am waiting a couple of months before I try another 64GB card to see if someone fixes this. I use Isyncr to store about 40 GB's of music on the cards when I had them. Samsung should fix.

I've tried to report this issue to Samsung through their impossible to use support contact page but I just don't get a response. Anyone know a good Samsung contact?

My galaxy s4 (19505 ) has just started the problem of not mounting the SD card. It is an 8GB Samsung SD.
No matter how many times i do a soft reset , it still says the card is unmounted.
Clearly it is not just a problem with my phone but seems fairly common

I am not having the "damaged sdcard" or unmounted condition since the latest Update!

I finally got the update, before I buy another 64gb card just wondering if you are still not getting the unmounting errors?

No more "damaged sd card" on boot nor unmounted sd card, etc. since the update!
Using a 64 gb Kingston micro sdcard.
