Galaxy S4 text failed - SMS works?

Hello,

I have updated my OS to Lollipop 5.0.1 using Samsung Smart Switch. For the most part the phone seems fine. Terrible battery life as usual.

HOWEVER, I can receive text messages but I CANNOT SEND text messages.

I can however send MMS messages. So everything is fine except I cannot send or reply to text messages.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a Verizon SCH-I545 although I am using it on the Metro PCS service (T-Mobile). I have in the past used the same phone on this network service and it worked just fine so I am pretty sure that has something to do with the Upgrade and some setting or software issue.

Is it possible updating your OS has removed your APN settings? You may need to check and update your APN settings for your phone to work with SMS on Metro PCS

I can tell you that the APN is set correctly. I also have an update. The phone works fine in every way except I cannot send outgoing text messages. They fail immediately. I can send SMS message but not plain text messages.

HOWEVER, yesterday I drove to the edge of the city and I was getting 3G and H+ and it just so happened that was showing someone that I cannot send messages it worked. It sent all the text messages I put through. UNTIL... I got back to the 4G area and it went back to failing.

It seems like this OS doesn't communicate correctly with the service received on the towers that have 4G? I might have read that someone else had to shut the 4G service off to send text messages. It does not work if I turn off the data either.

Any ideas?

Hmmm could be coincidence, but maybe your SIM card is having issues?
