Galaxy S4 to Moto X - My Experience

With rooted N5 you can calibrate screen too, but unfortunately Moto X has almost no development right now.

Software and camera definately. In the Moto X you don't get quick settings at the top like brightness, one touch for wifi and all of that. At first it was a real bummer because you would have to go to settings just to turn on wifi and all of that on the MX. However I found this app, Notification Toggle, which does the exact same thing as TouchWiz, I'll upload pics in a little bit.

Not sure what this bump is about, but anyway FYI the Moto X comes with a settings widget that you can put on the home screen to turn wi-fi on/off with one touch, adjust brightness, location setting, and synching. I use it for wi-fi all the time.

I made the switch from the SGS4 to Moto X and I have to say that the X is a much better phone in my opinion. The specs may not be as great as the S4, but the experience using the phone is better. I don't notice any lag on the Moto X, and the addons to vanilla Android are actually very useful and not gimmicky at all. The camera is perfect for my needs, and the display resolution difference is not noticeable to my eyes. In fact, I would venture to say the Moto X display is better than the S4 in terms of visibility outdoors and color reproduction. Finally, the shape and size of the Moto X make it feel wonderful in t the hand. I have held my S4 since using the X and I can't stand the feel of the S4 now.

I use the power control widget on my main home screen. Does the job for me.

I traded my S4 for my Moto X. I am in love with my Moto X. The S4 was the worst android phone I ever owned. I have had the S3, Note 2, S4, HTC one and several iPhones. My little Moto X is by far my favorite. Just wish the camera was better

A little late to the game, but I just did the switch from GS4 to MX. Could not be happier! Agree with everyones comments, my big reasons were:

MX is the sweet spot for size
MX is like the iPhone of Android.... it just works and is clean and simple to use. The GS4 Touchwiz is to bloated and filled with gizmos that never get used once the new car smell is gone and then they just get in the way and slow the phone down.
MX has 3 of the best Android add ons of any phone I have tinkered with. Love the active notification, voice control, and camera access. Moto solved the driving texting problem better than anyone in the biz IMHO.

What a great phone.... I was starting to ponder going back to iPhone.... but know I see what all the buzz is about stock android over the bloated touchwiz.... What a difference!

I'm switching from an iPhone 5S to the Moto X. I'm just waiting for it to get out here.

I understand the "step-down" in specs, but I've used a Droid MAXX before (my wife has it now) and I loved the Motorola add-ons. There's stuff I love about iOS, but overall, I'm so invested in Google services that it makes no sense for me to use anything else.

You won't even notice the "step down" in specs. I used to be a spec snob. Always wanted the latest and greatest. This phone has satisfied and changed me. What matters is what you do with the specs. I've never seen any lag or slowness. Welcome and congrats!

I'm at the point where the specs on my phone don't really matter. If I want to play games, I use my computer or my iPad. My phone is about communication, and sharing photos. The Moto X features make it so I can do that. I like the near-stock Google experience, too.
