Galaxy s4 wifi/data connection issues

Recently noticed my data stays connected while on wifi and gives me all kinds of connection problems with various apps. Any way to make it stay on wifi only?

Not exactly sure. You can put the device into airplane mode, then activate the WiFi, but that would cut you of from calls/texts,

Is the mobile data still connecting when on WiFi? You can turn off mobile data within settings, you'll still get texts/calls
