Galaxy S4

The only time I've noticed lag is when I use Chrome. After it's been used, I notice the lag until the phone's been restarted. I started using Dolphin again and no lag or so minimal I don't notice it anymore.

As for the AMOLED blobs... I never really look at my screen, darkened to minimal brightness in a dark room... so if they are there, so be it, I've never noticed them and it's never bothered me. It's one of those things that will bother you if you are obsessed with tests.

Ha ha ha ha!

You are hilarious. Here are two shots of my screen at minimum brightness with a solid, blank color on the screen. Go ahead and point out my "blobs".

Just get an S4 already. There's no lag, no weird blob things, the camera is like a pro SLR camera, it's soft as kittens and smells like fresh linen. You'll love it.

The fact that you would post a screen shot to attempt to show a hardware issue is lunacy. It also demonstrates that you do not fully understand the problem, which proves my point: Those who do not observe a problem believe it does not to exist.

I'm just concerned about signal strength, battery life and call quality.:'(

I've had the MAXX HD since November, no lag issues. The only possible thing that could be considered lag is maybe it takes a fraction of a second for the circles widget to pop up sometimes on the home screen. Barely noticeable. As far as contacts or phone, no lag whatsoever. My guess is those who are experiencing "lag" have one or more apps that don't play nice with JB or have rooted and messed up their phones somehow.

I'd be so happy with a RAZR MAXX HD that had the Droid DNA screen, a Wolfson DAC, 2GB of RAM, front facing speakers and a Snapdragon 600 chip...

I was surprised when I compared dummy phones at Best Buy today that the RMHD and the GS4 are pretty much the same size but they've crammed a larger screen into the S4. Now if they could just get a larger battery into it it might win me over. I just can't walk away from this battery life.

Count me as one with a Maxx HD who either has no lag or its so minute, small its not noticeable unless I'm looking for it....really hard....... Most ppl equated the lag of the launcher or lock screen with overall lag on older Moto phones. I have always replaced both with any phone I had, non Moto phones too. I still have a Droid 1 if one really wants to talk about lag... Even with the Droid 1.....different launcher = smoother home screen scrolling. Different launcher on my Droid X1....less laggy phone..

Anyway....

If you have a chance to get a newer phone, not happy with the Maxx HD I say go for it. Samsung has to prove to me they have their reception issues in weaker reception areas fixed or at least better. Unfortunately the only way I can tell is if I get another Samsung phone. Fortunately I live n work in a bad reception area so I can see reception issues easier than ppl that live n work near towers.

And the Amoled splotches/blobs are real...you cant see it with a screen shot. You have to look in a dim lit room to see it easier. I had it on my PS Vita too. Fortunately my Maxx HD doesnt have it or not as bad as my RAZR and Vita. I say had on my Vita cuz I had to send it in to be fixed and what they gave me doesnt have it or not as bad.

So. is dreamliner gonna tell me my Maxx HD and new Vita doesnt have the blobs, like my RAZR and old Vita did? A simple search will tell anyone the blobs vary in severity and some dont have it at all. Its probably also due to the ppl putting the phones together. Dont assume every phone behaves the same and screen looks the same. I still will give Samsung a chance...but if reception isnt what I want...it goes back and I wait for a future Samsung. But I understand how some ppl feel about Moto or Amoled screens......cuz Samsung falls lower n lower on my list just because of reception in weak areas. HTC too.

Is it really an issue if the person doesn't notice it then? Probably not. Don't make an issue out of one that's not there.

I've worked for Motorola communications since 85 when we installed the very first cellulars into cars. Yes before portables friends. I haven't always used Moto devices but my first smartphone was the Thunderbolt and it's awful battery life, the next was a Samsung Charge. After experiencing poor radio performance & terrible Bluetooth ops with it, I thankfully held off on jumping to a Nexus. When the Maxx hit the market with a 24hr battery and Kevlar housing wrapped around Moto's awesome radios I knew it was the phone for me. The MaxxHD became available and despite any thought of splotches or possible lag, I will never look back or attempt another Samsung phone. Now my wife likes her Note10.1 but then again, it's only a wifi. Don't have to worry about carrier RF with it. Moto all the way. And if they come out with some kind of Moto Google Nexus, I will not loose my unlimited data to get one, but it would be the only device that would make me want to.

i had a razr maxx hd for a few months and sold it to my sister i never had any lag what so ever with my device and im ocd about that stuff. i have a note 2 now because i wanted a bigger screen and yea i miss the better signal strength of my razr maxx hd and the more solid build quality that is the one thing that i hate about samsung is their affinity for plastic. so i have been debating returning my note 2 and going back to a razr maxx hd or the droid dna. ( only thing i dont like about the dna and the only reason i didnt buy it are the lack of removable or upgradeable storage.

Just like the AMOLED blob issue. I'm sure you'll say you don't have it. Reality is, you do. You just don't notice.
If I don't notice it, then why is it a problem?

Just get the G4 already, and you can also stop calling me a liar. My phone doesn't lag, unless your definition of "lag" means "not instantaneous and faster than light".

Back to topic, if you can get your maxx back easily, I would go ahead and switch. Worse comes to worse, you can always fall back on the maxx. Too many phones are great on the market so it's only clear to try whatever fancies your taste. I would try to handle one in person first though. And my blob is pretty bad.
