Galaxy S5 Hard reset doesn't work

Bought a unlocked Verizon Galaxy S5 for my wife off of craigslist. Imei good, phone was fine except for dead battery when I bought it. Put the battery from my S5 in, booted up, looked good. Put the dead battery back in it, charged it overnight. Next morning, it was locked. Asked for fingerprint scan or alternate password. Tried to hard reset with up volume + home + power, all I get is a dead android with "no command" and "please continue to update your system" Tried download mode down volume + power + home and I get a "Factory Mode" screen then a menu in Chinese. Hooked it up to computer with USB and computer doesn't recognize it. Any thoughts?
