Why would the camera app be different from carrier to carrier? I was just looking for this option and couldn't find it either. Verizon S5.
Google "enforced stream silencer". It's should be the first result. Not sure if it works in the s5,but worked on my note 3 and other Samsung phones.

I don't understand, dpham00, what is Google "enforced stream silencer"? What is its purpose? Is it something I can turn off and on? Is it an app or something I can only do if rooted?
Sprint here and it's also not there even if I scroll downI have Sprint and I do not have it either. I did scroll down
Yep no option here either with sprintI'm on Sprint and my phone doesn't have that option either.
Exactly, it's silent when phone is on vibrate or silent modeOn the Sprint model at least, if the phone is on vibrate it doesn't make the shutter noise. But there's no option in settings for shutter noise, which would be nice to have if someone doesn't want his phone in vibrate but still wants his shutter sound silent.

No, you do not need root. Just go to Google and search for that phrase

and what, install the apk? What else is it doing?
i installed the app. but the shutter click is still there.
is there something else i need to do?
if someone could screen shot that would be awesome.
Just open the app and check the box. There is only one box.

Its a law in most states that u cannot turn it off

yes. It's not a law. if you're phone's on mute it won't make noise so clearly not a law.
Is that a joke?

Yep. That's what i did.
Tried re-starting my phone, playing with the volume settings, still makes the shutter sound in mute/vibrate modes.
