Considering the Note Pro tablets are quite hefty on price, do you think Samsung will continue with the S5 off Contract? Will the price be justified?

I personally think it may if the specs are outstanding and the bloat is minimal.

By this I'm going to assume you mean continue the trend of over pricing.
Surely they can price it however they want but if the levels of material quality follows the design paradigms of the s4 I wouldn't expect the price to raise significantly as that could hurt sales. People would be shocked at a significant price increase and complaints would be made.

Well, there is overpricing and then there is going completely over the deep end as well. Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 gets a giant price in the UK | Android Central

649 British pounds is nearly $1,060.

That's pretty standard for the UK though. They suffer huge price increases. I hope someone can comment if this price includes the VAT?

It probably won't be more than a Note 3 off contract. The Note series is still technically a tier above the S* series.

Not to mention that is not the US price. Thing cost different because of a ton of factors.

I see no reason why Samsung would change the pricing structure. 600$ or so for the S5 is right

Kit Kat tastes like Jellybeans. Can't tell them apart...

You could take the Google approach they liked a flat same figure in most countries, granted the exchange rate was similar at the time,
Just going off my nexus experience, To be honest with Samsung I know its a separate company - I wouldn't expect them to put a huge rate hike. Anyways most will be recieved on subsidised contracts.

I didn't even know we had a Galaxy S5, I thought the S4 was the latest model. Wow, I guess I missed out!

It's not out yet. It is going to be announced soon, I think later this month, being released towards mid spring.

Imagine if the s5 had a true aluminum band circumnavigating it like the blackberry 9900 and a carbon fiber/Kevlar rear. Now that would be some build quality to celebrate and the press and consumers would eat it up. Would it really cost that much more to produce?

I like the idea of Carbon fiber. That is one very tough material. If they made say a plastic shell that had a layer of Carbon fiber in it, that would become almost as durable as aluminum.

That kind of build quality with their plethora of features would be a game changer and force the other players to keep up. I like the idea of it. HTC would improve their already great flagship, LG and Motonova would introduce premium materials and Apple might come with more durable wears as well. It would be an all around good thing and I don't think it'd cost Samsung too much more to implement.

I've used carbon fiber 14 years ago and it was very expensive then. A flat back panel shouldn't be that hard to produce now. Beats the kevlar floppy panel moto used in the RAZR line of phones!

I think that would be awesome, but really expensive. Especially considering they'd need millions of panels of carbon fiber for all of their phones.

Very true...but CNC machining of aluminum isn't cheap either.

Would it be much more for Samsung to use carbon fiber than it was for Moto to use Kevlar?
