Galaxy S5 Screen unlocking in my pocket

I found out in the Display Settings that "Increase Touch Sensitivity" was on, and that's why it was pocket dialing/texting. Turning that off fixed it for me!

Hope this helps!

Easy solution guys.

Download MacroDroid
Add macro
Trigger: proximity sensor (near)
Action: screen off
constraint: only when screen locked

Problem solved

You can even disable icon in notificatoo bar via settings.
This solution was so helpful that I created an account to type this in Thanks to the author! Literally saved my $500+ Samsung from being tossed aside like so many cheaper androids before it, now rivals my LG Gpad 7.0 LTE currently soft-bricked until a similair epic solution appears! I'll add androidcentral to my favorites alongside XDA developers!

For some reason I hadn't thought of that. I use tasker (it'll do the same job) for a whole bunch of things, and that never crossed my mind. Thanks

Glad this is not just me

I've had my Galaxy S5 phone since they came out, I don't recall it every having the problem before but I had a iloma screen protector and a Ottorbox Defender case on (yes they work together). Had same setup on a S4 and never had the problem. All though random pocket text and calls did happen with the protection on the S5 it wasn't as common as now.

What took place? Well at this point the phone is very old (yes I'm due for new phone but rather wait till it dies as phones are a waste of money). I got an extended battery due to the old one being tired which means I had to remove the case, and the iloma screen protector was cracked (it did it's job).

I have entering a code lock, phone still unlocks and has sent text, and called friends. Always fun to find out your just sitting in a car and it's calling people. Hell it once called my friend in Canada while I was building a deck, so all he heard was power tools and **** and got worried and called my wife...LOL

So now I'm onto the finger print lock, not as often but it still defeats the dang fingerprint lock, hell I have to do a few finger print swipes to even get it to work. So the new thing (however it's bypassing the lock) it now always calls my cousin who's name is Andrea. I now as of today created a fake A so it won't call the first letter of my phonebook.

I have never had it call 911, but have worried about that. Thankfully I don't have THAT issue.

Some of you say it wakes on text, but I didn't get a text for it to wake, nothing there. I don't get many calls or text and I have notifications turned off for everything from games to Facebook (I don't need to be notified).

Air View is off, always has been, not even sure why I would want that. I did just turn down the sensitivity. So maybe that will slightly help.

As far as not putting it in your pants pocket, where do you suggest you put it, belt clips are pretty lame (I haven't used one of those since flip phones). Shirt pocket! T-Shirts don't have pockets (I work from home so hence not usually a problem because I'll leave the phone out on my desk) but pants is the easiest place to put the phone when I head out. Friends and my wife keep their phone in pants pocket and they don't have issues with their various branded phones.

Like some others have said, I'm not even looking at newer Samsung products because of this. I'm looking at the Pixel 2 XL 128GB but like I said I'm not looking to spend money on a silly thing like a phone.

I realize the advice here (I read most of the thread) was borderline helpful at best. But I felt I should say YUP mine does that too for anyone else still owning this phone or looking to get a used one from a friend, stay away...very annoying.
