Galaxy S5 shuts down and goes into boot loop randomly

Yes it did.

I've tried replacing batteries too but it didn't solove the restart issue.
I did see it running from 60% to 5% in just few minutes somewhere.
Lastly I do think I see the rebpots only at home and not in other places (WiFi regular and 5hz)

My girlfriend's s5 just started this last night. Her batter was at 25 then 13. It would stay on long enough to put her pass code in then it is would restart.

I charged it and it does the same thing.
I did get it to stay on long enough to open the play store and it said no internet connection.

Bootloops in safe mode as well. But in recovery mode it stays on.

Stays on while plugged in.

Battery? Firmware?

She says she hasn't installed anything recently.

I could try a factory reset. At this point she may be out of luck either way.

Might be time for an upgrade.

Disposable tech.

Exactly same thing happened to me on S5, randomly restarting and lock screen blocked.
I have tried to uninstall the last apps I've installed but it did not help.

I think I will not factory reset, cause it seems that it didn't help in other cases.
I will go to try to uninstal the lock screen app (line), remove widgets and see if I find what is causing this.

It would help to know which apps are installed in the phones that are having this issues, so I post here my app list and I hope other can do the same, so that if we have all some particular app configuration we could understand some conflicts.

Just chiming in to say I've also had the same problem for a few months now (can't afford new phone) and have tried everything. I had the original Galaxy and the 3 & never had an issue. Pity to know the 5 is just ****. Thanks wec123 for all of your efforts and posting, i was really hoping you'd find a solution.

Has anyone tried putting a custom ROM on their phones? Clockwork mods are good. There are others that are just as good. Up until I got my note 8, I ran custom roms on all my phones. The phone software is different for each phone model as well as for different carriers of the same phone model. It could be an issue with the carriers build. Trying a custom ROM will likely bring a brand new life to your phone. If the issues remain then the cause falls back to hardware. The cache partition could damaged. The processor could be faulty. There are numerous possibilities. For a custom ROM do the research on https://forum.xda-developers.com/ . Find a lite version, with minimal apps and add ons. Good luck to you all

Same thing happened to my phone. It shuts down suddenly as if I shut down my phone manually. First samsung logo appears on the screeen. Then the phone turns off.

I did the hard wipe. factory reset. change the battery. nothing worked.

There was no problem with the previous firmware, but the latest one came with lots of problems.

Most probably the phone is not compatible perfectly with the latest firmware. and my s5's warranty is over.

I could find no solution..
