I used to use a windows phone and worked just good. I now have a S5 and phone part works just like with windows. Texting on other hand does not. I do have it set up and working, just very disappointed in it.
Windows Samsung S5
incoming text Sync says "New Text message. Would you like to read it?" Bing (sound)"
Read you speak "Read it" you push button and say "Read text Message"
Text Message is Read Message is Read
Sync says "would you like to call, Reply, or I'm done?" nothing
Reply You speak "Reply" Then speak your message. Sync will ask you "Do you hit the arrows on the dash for a message
you want to add more, Retry, or send" that is preprogramed, and send it

Sorry about the colors but this forum, and or user, does not do tables or charts very well. the blue is for all the windows things.

So I can see why on the S3 of same title that people would post texting can wait. Is the S5 (Described above, Right side) same way it works with the S4, and S3? Or does anyone have it working like the windows phone? If so any Idea how to make the Bluetooth text work like the windows?

I got it to work the first time I used my phone, but haven't been able to get it to work any other time. That being said, I never got it to work with my iPhone, and MyFordTouch has all sorts of operating issues.

I, too have Ford sync (model year 2009). Just got Samsung s5 in hopes that text messages would read via sync. Fail! Says unsupported. :( THe only phone I've ever gotten to work with sync text messages was a cheap Motorola. I would love to be able to use this feature!

I had no luck with my Galaxy Nexus but with the S5 things have been mixed.

It works perfectly with my 2013 Escape but on the 2013 Explorer I get the message stating that the phone does not support text over bluetooth (which obviously it does since it works in the Escape). The problem is likely with the Sync sw/hw and not the phone as it works great in my Escape. Unfortunately for me that is my wife's car.

I'd like to know just what you guys are doing. I have Sync in my 2012 Fusion, that is non-MFT Sync, and it works just fine with my Galaxy S5. I get texts read and they tell me who they are from and everything. What's the problem? You guys sure you have the latest Sync updates?

Yeah, my work vehicle is a 2013 Escape, and it works wonderfully with my GS5.

Nope, definitely not working with the latest update here. I haven't updated it since I got the phone in July.I'll see if Ford will update it when I take it in to have the outside temperature sensor replaced.

I am having the same issue currently with my Note 3. Switched from a Nokia 920 that worked fine with sync. Does anyone know if there is a setting that has to be changed somewhere or should I reset the truck and start again. 2014 F250. Sync just updated.

My S5 works with my 2014 Flex. My wife's Note 3 doesn't.

Based on past performance Ford is unlikely to ever fix the problem.

I recently got a Galaxy Note 4 and my 2008 limcoln with sync FINALLY worked with my text messages. I returned note 4 for a smaller alpha and my texts aren't working.

Hey fellow Flex owner! :) My My Moto Droid worked with text messaging in my 2011 Flex (1st generation, not the buggy MFT). Then Jelly Bean came along and broke it :( Right before getting my S5 I had my car at the Ford dealer for some warranty work. They upgraded my Sync version. The text feature is working again on my Moto running JB (the OS that broke it in a different version of Sync). A week later I bought the S5 running KK. It works with my version of Sync (Gen 1 v.3.2.6). The only thing that doesn't work (pertaining to the S5 is the feature for the car's ringtone to be that of the phone). If anyone is interested, here is a thread at the FordFlex forum I started discussing this very topic.

Galaxy S5....worked for a time, then quit texting all of a sudden. Think it might have been an update from Verizon. I did the following from another post and it worked perfectly!

1) Delete SYNC From the list of Bluetooth connections in your cell phone.
2) Delete your phone from SYNC.
3) From SYNC, tell it to find a Bluetooth device, while telling your phone to make itself visible to other Bluetooth devices. Watch your phone and make sure you answer all the prompts to connect. It will specifically ask about messaging. When the system asks if you’d like to download the phonebook, say yes. While the phonebook is downloading, check the screen of your phone for messages asking for your permission to allow SYNC to access the phone. If you see a message like this, accept it (there may be multiple).

Just pay close attention when you’re pairing the phone for the first time so you don’t miss any messages on the phone. If a message pops up asking for your permission to access the phone and you don’t accept it, text messaging will not work.

Your procedure worked...until I turned off the car, then got back in later. Looks like I have to go through your procedure each time I get in the car. Anyone have any ideas as to why this would be so?

As long as you are leaving bluetooth on in your phone, it should reconnect automatically every time you get in the car.

Make sure when you answer the pop-up permission prompts from sync on your phone that you select, Remember and don't ask again and make sure to pick yes. The other thing you can try is get into the sync menu on the car for that device make sure MAP is on/enabled. It will be in advanced sync menu.

Have sync and on my second car w/ sync, came from a Windows phone, S5 works 1000x's better than the Windows phone. The txt feature works like a charm.
