For the people who were on the fence between the HTC M8 and the S5, where do you stand now that the M8 was officially announced?

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I put myself in this vicious cycle where once I get one phone, I want the other.

I'd like to wait to see them both side by side in the real world before I make my decision.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I'm staying with GS5. M8 looks good in body design, but that's about it.
Also it's quite close to the Note 3 in height. that alone kills it for me.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I'll wait a bit to see what others have been cooking up.

That said, if I had to choose, probably the M8.

I'm a sucker for metal. xD

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

Definitely still the S5. So much of bezel on the m8 and it looks so much bigger than the Samsung. Plus I'm a sucker got waterproof phones.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

Here's what I WANTED:

Metal Body - CHECK
Dual-Camera - CHECK
5" screen at 1080p - CHECK
Great UI (Sense 6) - CHECK
SD-Slot - CHECK
16MP Camera - MISSING
3GB RAM - MISSING
Removable battery - MISSING

This is such a pain in the ****. The M8 needs stuff the S5 only has, and the S5 needs stuff that only the M8 has.

Now, I wait until September when Apple will add a dual(or triple?) camera, at 16MP with a 5" screen at higher than 1080P resolution, iOS8... and the iPhone 6 will effectively rule the world.

All Samsung and HTC did was give Apple the blueprint for how to beat them - just take the S5 and the M8 and combine then into one.

What are you on? Apple will never be better than the crappiest Android phone and more like they will steal the blueprints.... hahaha

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I think the m8 looks worse than last years m7.

The s5 doesn't look that much better but that's my choice for this year.

I still think that the 5 is better.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

The S5 seems better other than aesthetics. What is comical is how much negativity there was on this board when the S5 was announced, while everyone on the One 2014 forum is very positive, despite the phone having less impressive specs.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

Like S4 vs. One (M7), it looks like the Galaxy is the better "overall" phone for the mass market consumer.

IMO, of course. :)

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I will go with the S5. The camera and the water and dust resistant are my main reasons. It will be a big upgrade from my S3.

There is no perfect phone. There is only one that's good enough to meet your needs.

Why not the Note 3? Unless that is took big. My wife's upgrade is coming this summer. I hope she picks the Note 3 over the S5. I have the Note 2 and by far is the best phone I have owned. Not saying the S5 is bad or anything I just want to play with her note if that is what she decides to get. hahah haha

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I'm now undecided as to which one I want. I'm thinking I'm going to stick with the S5 because of the better camera, removable battery and water/dust resistance.. Buuuut the M8 also looks nice, metal body, sense 6, speakers on the front. Choices choices.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I just find it amusing that the people who bashed the S5 immediately for being an incremental update are right on the M8 bandwagon even though it's a worse offender in that regard. Samsung closed the gap between Touchwiz and Sense this year. They also drastically made the in-hand feel of the phone better (as anyone who's been to Best Buy and held it would attest to). I'm sure tech sites will disagree because "OMG METAL", but the S5 is the better phone. And the Nexus 5 is still probably better than both of them. In my opinion, of course.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced.....

I am on the fence still...I have been an iPhone user for a few years and I am looking for something bigger and different. I tried Android for a while back when the original Droid came out and then I switched back to iPhone.

I think I am ready to make the switch back to Android so now I am having trouble deciding...the s5 or the M8...I think I like the s5 better specs wise, but the design of the M8 better.

Oh the decisions!!

Re: Now that the HTC was announced, S5 or M8?

Just played with the m8. NOT IMPRESSED with look feel and overall sense 6.0. Glad I preordered the s5.

Re: Now that the HTC was announced, S5 or M8?

M8 camera quality is not really good...I'm hearing reviews of blurriness and not strong clarity

S5 for sure... For that and other reasons
