Galaxy S6, 1 yr later

My S6 has been nothing but a stellar performer. Battery after Verizon's wifi update improved considerably as well. I wonder how folks that have laggy slow experiences , poor battery etc, if they ever reboot, how often, clean cache once in awhile etc. Android is an awesome platform and is fun and interesting to use. Some simple knowledge of it would help the casual user. They usually just throw up their hands and got back to iPhone, the simple yet functional but extremely boring system for the masses. I've seen middle age women pull out their iPhones and I can't help but notice when they are inches from me that their screens are still in the default out of the box mode set by apple. Jeeez, lady you got the perfect phone.

So...how often do you reboot?

Well that explains why your phone runs so smoothly. If you didn't, after one week your phone would slow to a crawl. I think it is a Samsung/Touchwiz issue. Do you agree?

I reboot once a week, clear my cache once a month and it never crawls

Definitely a lot of people seem to have issues. A daily reboot is simple and quick. Not really sure how much it helps just know I don't have issues with my S6 or any other device. I switch out between my S6, moto x pure and ios 6+. Always reboot every morning no matter which device. Just part of my routine. Takes, what? Maybe 30 sec. One good reasonreason imo for the reboot is I leave a nite clock on all nite. After 8 hours of that I prefer to get a fresh start on my phones day. My S6 is sweet and smooth. Don't use TW as I just don't care for it. Don't have alot of crap loaded up either. Not a gamer except scrabble. Having WiFi calling enabled by Verizon is what helps me get 5+ hours of SOT. Was around 4 before that.

Yes, a regular reboot will do the trick. Not such a big deal in that it only takes about 30 seconds.

I feel like if I'm spending this much on what is arguably a flagship phone, it should just work. Even if it is just an extra 30 seconds, I shouldn't have to take extra steps for it to work properly.

I'm in the unhappy camp, I take my phone off the charger at 100% at 6:30am, and I am lucky if it is still on when I leave work at 5pm. My old iPhone 5S, on similar usage patterns, lasted 36 hours on a full charge. On AT&T, not a gamer at all - I use my phone for calls/texts, emails, reading, and the occasional youtube video - and no widgets running or anything like that. It's pretty pathetic really. I was very excited to make the move to Android given the OS' flexibility, but the battery life on the S6 Edge has really soured the transition.

Owned the S6 since April, it's a super amazing device and the few main issues that I had 1. Reception 2. Battery have resolved themselves, which makes me think that it was actually Telstra's fault.

Since the app optimization update I got rid of all the third party battery saving apps, and I'm happy to report that i get 6hrs SOT which easily lasts me from 7am -12am.

The only minor issue I have is Google Keyboard doesn't always pop-up , but that's software, so I'm sure it will get resolved with lollipop update.

Solid phone, if the battery holds up it will probably last me another 2yrs.

Does your phone lag at all after about a week, like mine?

Had an iPad and it was totally not smooth and consistent. It froze and lagged and was generally a pain to use. I sold it and got a Nexus 9, not perfect but no freezes and small lag sometimes but no other issues. My S6 has been great and I also know how to use and maintain Android devices. I think, as said above, some of the issues are with user lack of knowledge and bad apps.

I agree I hear people always go on about bad battery my phone easily gets me through a day on heavy use slight use than more there is nothing I can complain about the s6. I will be keeping it and won't upgrade to the s7 love the design still looks modern and current the s6 does what I need it to do and more and it's a very well built solid device in my eyes.

I've also had my phone since launch and I've not had any issues with lag as such, but the battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Dunno if it's a Lollipop thing still or if it's some other reason. Only manage to get 3 and a half hours screen on time lately. Usually charge it at night and after taking it off charger, by the evening its on 30%. I don't game on it much, just use it for things like browsing, social media, and some youtube use. Enjoying the phone aesthetically though, and I've always found it much faster than the other Android phones I've owned.

I got mine about 1 week after they became available. For the most part I love the phone. Have had some issues with google now and chrome but those may be App issues.

Only complaint about the phone is battery life. I reboot and wipe cache regularly and have even doen factory resets but I only get 8-9 hours and 2-2.5 screen time with light to moderate use. I have tried ALL of the tips many times over and I have strong wifi and cell signals.

Battery life sucks IMO.

i got mine in july and put a custom rom on it and ran awesome for me. however my wife wanted a new phone so i gave her the S6 because she loved that phone so much and i got an iphone from work. honestly i like samsung but for work the iphone is just better. never any worries about battery life and so on. securty is a big one for my job.

still dont understand why people complaining about not having a Micro SD card slot. i got the S6 64GB and well worked out good for me.

For heavy users it may be a pain, i mean if people have an onscreen of 4+hours a day i consider that A LOT. I use the phone as both my work and personal, take tons of calls, get hundreds of emails, a lot of texts, as well as browsing and video watching i can get home with 50%+ battery life by 6pm. I charge every night and take off charger at midnight, so my S6 has fantastic battery life for my needs.

The S6 edge is one of the most beautiful smartphones ever made in my opinion. I love the way it looks and feels in my hands. Only the iPhone 4S or the Nexus 4 even come close.

But the performance and battery life keeps it in the drawer instead of my pocket, and the lack of critical security updates keeps me from recommending it to anyone else.
