Black screen, no LED's illuminated, plugged into charger, doesn't seem to respond to any tactile buttons. :'(

Welcome to Android Central! You've already tried pressing and holding the Power button for 10-15 seconds? The phone should still be under warranty, so contact Samsung.

To replace a phone under warranty you may want to contact the carrier first, as my past experience was easier with the carrier directly.

If your Galaxy S6 has become frozen and will not respond to anything, try a soft reset. A soft reset will restart the device and will not erase any data.

Press and hold the “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons for about 10 seconds until the device powers off.

Interesting, I had this happen on my brand new Active 6 as well. Got into my vehicle and saw that it paired, then was about to turn it on to choose a track on my music player and noticed it would not come on. Held the buttons for a few secs and nothing, the third time seemed to work, it acted as if it had shut it self down.

Maybe first run duds? Going to ask them about swapping it but I do not want to be charged a restocking fee.

Mine has the same problem. It says something about installing the Samsung Gear VR app then goes blank with the "x" int he corner. It takes about two hours for the thing to work again, but it still pairs with my car.

This sucks because I really liked this phone :(

After that one incident, it has been working awesome so far. Maybe disable the VR stuff if you can, I disabled a bunch of the items I did not want and so far the phone is working well. The battery life is amazing compared to my last phone (HTC M7). I got a nice TPU case and screen protector for it, not that it needs it but just to keep it in good shape looks wise.

Yeah hard resets have done nothing, even booting to odin mode and reset does nothing. ATT sending me new phone in a new days. As much as I detest Apple, their hardware does work flawlessly for the most part. Samsung has been great to me for the past few years (Note 2,3,S5). The S6 Active has great hardware, but with the Att&t Bloatware and other crap accompanying, it is a terrible phone.

We need a Google Play variant of the S6 Active.

Mine went into the "VR Mode". I tried the forced reboot about three or four times, but it wasn't until I plugged the USB cable into my computer that it started working again.

This totally worked for mine! ;) thanks! I would have thrown it and it cost me $700

This soft reset was the only "fix" that worked for my new s6A. I haven't even had it 30 days and it blacked out on me last night. Thanks so much for the advice available on this site!

Apples hardware is for crap. they are the only phone major phone without water proof, and my fiancee's phone crashes every time the internet drops. Not to mention their screens are fragile as all crap. Add in the fact their actual technology is a couple of years behind, and their software is a decade behind, all you have left is the hordes of mindless drones who buy their garbage.

I'm starting to think of going back to the "stick with the google blessed phone" This at&t loaded junk on the active is probably a big part of the cause.

Mine went black, green recharge light on and nothing else.

Tried your solution, worked perfectly.

Thank you.

I notice mine does this when I plug into only 1 of my vehicles to charge.....anyplace else it does just fine. Also with this latest update I have had way more problems than with any phone I have had and it's only been bout 48 hours!

Any other thoughts on how to fix this? I've had the phone for under a week and it went black today. I've treid the soft rest, I've tried having it plugged in to a wall charger, plugged into my computer, nothing. Screen is totally black. I know the resets are happening because the led light stops blinking when it turn off and then starts blinking blue again when it turns back on. Any other trouble shooting options would be super appreciated!

Did you buy it brand new? If so call AT&T and they will send you a replacement because your phone falls under the warranty

Hello everyone, my phone has done the same, with the black screen, I've tried the soft reset and nothing, it still works because I can make bluetooth calls with it, is there anything else I can try?
