Galaxy S6 : Camera Shots! Show us your pictures

Only had the S6 for a day but so far im pretty happy with the camera. Had the Iphone 6 and Sony Z3 before this.

Here's a quick shot I took to make a wallpaper. It's a shot of my carpet taken in pro mode with the wrong white balance to get the cool temp colors. Edited in the stock app to bring out some more contrast.

Going on a two week holiday to Italy next week, will be posting some pics from there once I get back.

I'm blown away by this camera! I took this photo quickly while out for a walk at lunch. Auto mode, auto HDR, not edited at all.

Yeah, much more appropriate and fair comparison, and it does show that the s6 is much better than the iphone (as expected). The s6 probably would have handled the backlight situation of the original shot better too, but since you didn't have that shot, it wasn't fair to compare.

I think from what I have seen, the s6 camera is fantastic and likely much better than the iphone, especially in challenging light

Nice crew you have there...:)

A more fair comparison. And I agree - the S6 camera beats the iPhone 6 pretty handily in most situations.

Took these today in the parking lot at work. Just finished raining.

No filters, no funny business.

I was considering buying an s6 but now, I don't think so. Some great photos but seemed like those were from people who knew what they were doing. The ones that didn't were just as bad as how my sony z2 turn out. Hate to give credit to apple, but fast moving kids and low light rooms with bright spots at windows is what I photo most - iPhone blows away the competition.

Having had both the Z2(and 3) and the Iphone 6 i must say I enjoyed the Z2s camera more. But then again I come from a photography background and like to play around with settings and light.

The iphone camera is really great if yoi want an all rounder that takes good pictures without you really having to think about it too much(its fast too). I just found it a bit boring(camera and otherwise).

I havent used the s6 enough to really say where it fits in this equation yet.

Adding a pic to stay on topic, this is a quick snap taken from the window of a moving car on auto settings. Nothing special :)

I agree the iPhone takes great photos, I disagree that it blows away the competition. This isn't just fanboy rhetoric either. My mom has the iPhone 6, and she takes A LOT of photos of my kids, as do I, so I have a lot of comparison photos. Finally I am not envious of the photos she takes though. I'm in the same boat as you, my kids are my main photo subjects, and 99% of the time I shoot in Auto Mode, just point and shoot. What I've learned is to let my kids move and keep the camera more still. If I move with my kids, the photos generally aren't as sharp and blurring can happen. If I stay fairly still but they are moving the shots are on par (dare I say better sometimes) than the iPhone 6. With that, here are some photos of my kids on the move, and really take notice of the shot with chickens in it, they are NEVER still. LOL.

No. I just did a google search for it after you asked. Which brought me to the settings and it is Off. Looks like I should be using that?

Its express purpose is keeping objects (like kids!) in focus.

Which is why it sounds like I should be using it. Any reason not to use it? I assume having it off helps in some other types of photos?

Sorry, yes, I think you should use it.

It doesn't actually start tracking until you tap the screen. So the camera will take pics normally (using normal autofocus) unless you tap the screen. I guess the only reason they don't enable it by default is you mightn't always want the focus determined by the subject in frame.
I really can't see any downside for your use case though.

Clearly wrong.

Ok, that makes sense. Can't wait to try it out on the kids, or the cat, or the chickens, or anything else around my house that NEVER stays still. LOL. Thanks.

When I took a class on the S6 at best buy that's something they showed me.
If you got kiss or dogs running around it focus on them. This is really a Plus too.
If you don't want auto tracking don't touch the screen to track it.
If you touch the screen & track something.
Touch the screen again and it turns off.
