Had my phone on its charger last night, woke up this morning to my phone completely reset with all data lost. I've searched and haven't seen anyone else post on this problem, anyone have any ideas?

I have seen posts about it before, not necessarily with the S6 though. It is quite rare. As for a reason why, I am not sure.

Thanks for the find! Took it to verizon, and of course they don't know anything. Told me if it happens again they will swap it out. So we will see, I might lie just to get a new one. I don't want to loose all my data again if its a hardware issue.

Feel sorry for ya man.
What you can do the next time is :
-download Mega V1 and /or V2 from the Playstore. Put camera upload on, you can even give tasks what to upload and what not. ( cloud, also flickr, dropbox, box, drive, onedrive has options, i prefer Mega)
-Make back up data with smart switch on pc.
Your games saved data are most of the time saved on google play games service.

I have seen topics about the selfreset.
Maybe better to use the OEM charger only.
I had a problem with a powerbank. I used the cable that came with the powerbank and my S6 was slow, lagging ( even worser than putting the phone in battery save modus) while the phone was charging. I removed the cable from the phone and it was normal.
I placed my S6 cable and it was solved.

Thanks I'll give it a try. But I was using the charger that came right out of the box so that rules that out, unless its a faulty charger.
