Galaxy S6/ S6 Edge - Secretly Waterproof/Resistant?

Looks legit. A separate video demonstrating full use capability after even five minutes of full submersion would be informative. Either way though this is fascinating.

That's crazy -- but why in the world would they do this without marketing it as a feature? Makes no sense...

They don't want people doing that and looking for a warranty replacement. I suspected the S5 had some degree of IP just like the M8 did last year.

Interesting. Good to know it can survive an accidental drop in the toilet if you take it out quick enough.

I certainly wouldn't rely on this.

There may be a degree of "water resistance" due to the application of the glues to the front and back sections. But if the design isn't actually made to be resistant this will not likely function for everyone in every instance.

Each time a unit is manufactured the glues/sealing may or may not actually withstand water incursion - beware the claim!

Well this is very encouraging. In no way would I ever submerge it in water purposely, but I at least feel a little more comfortable pulling it out and using it in some light rain. Also nice to know that it could survive a dip in water if it happened. I obviously would be turning it off right away and keeping it off until completely dry if I ever submerged it though.

It's likely that most phones have some degree of IP, like IP2 or 3. But if you advertise it as a feature, people will start doing all sorts of risky things and cause all sorts of user inflicted failures that will be blamed on the hardware. Like, for instance, plugging a charger into a wet USB port

I personally wouldn't do it since they didn't advertise it.

My guess is that was the point. I bet they had plenty of complaints after advertising the S5 as waterproof and people doing crazy things and wanting free replacements. I won't be taking a chance with it though lol
